Souness: Kane Shouldn’t Start Against Liverpool

Well he would say that, wouldn’t he?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see exactly pressure Harry Kane looks to exert upon Maurico Pochettino, but surely common sense dictates that Kane is left on the bench for the Champions League final?

In his Sunday Times column, Graeme Souness said: “Harry Kane strikes me as the type who may need to be protected from himself when it comes to deciding whether he is fit for the Champions League final.

“It’s a complicated call for Mauricio Pochettino, his manager, to make before a match that could be career-defining for them both.”

Career defining isn’t half of it. If Spurs start Kane and he’s running on fumes after an hour, that’s one thing, but what if his ankle doesn’t even give him 60 minutes?

The 25 year old will however be doing his upmost to convince the gaffer that he is fit and ready for the biggest game of his life.

Jermaine Jenas writing for the Daily Mail, also opts for caution.

I take a view that Lucas Moura got us into this, and he’ll be dying to show everyone how he can win it.

Let the Brazilian show us what he can do.
