There’s no definitive word on whether the transfer of Serge Aurier to Spurs is in jeopardy, however in France the complications that seem to haunt the player appear to show little sign of easing.
Glad advises that Daniel Levy was recently in Paris to meet with Antero Henrique to do what he could to get this one over the line.
A cynic might suggest that the sooner the French move Aurier onwards the easier life will become for all concerned.
One curiosity Gladys pointed out was that Serge was still travelling on an Ivorian passport and so it emerges that one of several issues with the French government is an ongoing naturalisation application which PSG assisted him with last autumn.
As of yesterday, Aurier’s visa to permit him to work in the UK was still being processed. The suggestion is that the lawyers in France believe that the permit ought to be granted.
The deal is being reported in France as being worth €25million plus a further €3million in add-ons which is a very much simplified version of the actual deal but nothing worth getting bent out of shape over.
For anyone joining us late, this is an ambitious move by Levy and one I couldn’t support more. Tottenham are always in need of an injection of guts and this guy will add a welcome edge to the squad.
