Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
The 22-year-old Belgian midfielder has established himself as a key player for Everton and his performances have attracted the attention of the top clubs.
According to a report from TEAMtalk via Fichajes, the midfielder has ‘attracted interest’ from Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
Onana is reportedly valued at £53 million and it will be interesting to see if clubs like Tottenham are prepared to pay that kind of money for him. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club and Tottenham will have to replace him adequately. The 22-year-old Belgian could prove to be a quality replacement. He has already established himself as a key player in the Premier League, and he has the tools to develop into a world-class defensive midfielder.
Tottenham already have a specialist defensive midfielder in Yves Bissouma, but they need more depth in their squad if they want to compete for major titles in the coming seasons. Onana will add defensive cover, physicality and depth to the Tottenham midfield.
He is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at the North London club. It remains to be seen whether Spurs can beat the competition from the other Premier League clubs and secure his services.
They must secure Champions League qualification in order to attract players of his potential, and Tottenham are certainly well-placed to finish in the top four.
