£45m star a ‘priority target’, Tottenham ‘really love’ player who is ‘a leader’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on improving their defensive unit this summer and the Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba is one of their main targets.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender could be available for a fee of around £45 million this summer and Tottenham have sent scouts to watch him in action frequently.

Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano claims that Tapsoba is a priority target for Tottenham. Apparently, the club scouts have watched him plenty of times this year and they really love what they have seen so far.

Tottenham feel that the 24-year-old is perfect for Premier League football. Apart from his qualities as a defender, they admire Tapsoba’s leadership qualities as well.

Spurs believe that he would be a fantastic option for them and it remains to be seen whether they are willing to pay the reported asking price.

He said: “I keep saying that Tapsoba is a priority target because they [Spurs] love Tapsoba. Tottenham scouts have been there many times this year to follow Tapsoba. So, he is a player they really love and they feel is perfect for Premier League football.”

“He is a leader. So, there are many factors in a deal and Tottenham think he is a fantastic option”.

Bayer Leverkusen are unlikely to sell a key player for cheap and Tottenham will have to fork out a substantial amount of money for the Burkina Faso international.

The player is likely to be tempted to join the London club and a move to the Premier League will be hard to turn down.

Although the £45 million asking price might seem steep right now, the 24-year-old is still relatively young and he is likely to improve with experience. He could end up justifying the transfer outlay in the coming seasons.

Tapsoba is not the only Bundesliga defender on their list, Wolfsburg star Micky van de Ven is a target for Tottenham this summer as well.
