Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet was on loan at Tottenham Hotspur last season.
The 28-year-old defender did reasonably well during his time in the Premier League but the move was not made permanent at the end of the season.
The French defender has returned to his parent club but he is expected to move on this summer permanently.
There have been links with a return to Tottenham and it will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to bring him back to the club.
According to the official Barcelona website, the player has been given permission to skip pre-season training.
There is no mention of whether the decision was taken to facilitate a transfer but it is fair to assume that the 28-year-old is not a key player for Barcelona. It makes sense for him to move on permanently this summer and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Other reports from Spain (via SportWitness) claim that the player is close to a return.
Spurs need to add more depth to their defence, especially with players like Davinson Sanchez being linked with a move away from the club.
Lenglet could prove to be a quality acquisition for the right price. The defender has no future at Barcelona and the Spanish giants could look to sell him for a knockdown price this summer.
If Tottenham can secure his services on a bargain, the move could prove to be a wise decision.
