Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The 27-year-old French international has done quite well for the Italian club and his performances have attracted the attention of the London club.
Tottenham are looking to bring in a quality replacement for club legend Hugo Lloris. The 36-year-old is no longer the player he used to be and his error-prone performances have cost valuable points this season.
Lloris will have to be replaced as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the summer and Maginan could prove to be a quality addition.
That 27-year-old has been a key player for Milan since joining the club and he is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the Italian league.
According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham watched him closely during their Champions League clash against AC Milan earlier this season and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League club are ready to submit an official offer for him at the end of the season.
Jacobs wrote on CaughtOffside: “Spurs are looking to replace Hugo Lloris. They have Raya on their radar. Valencia goalkeeper Giori Mamardashvili is another name pretty high up on the list of possibilities. Milan’s Mike Maignan was also watched closely in Tottenham’s loss to Milan, and his late save from Kane’s header in injury time to stop the tie going to extra-time won’t have gone unnoticed.”
The 27-year-old is an important first-team player for AC Milan and the Rossoneri will not want to lose him anytime soon. It seems highly unlikely that Milan will sanction his departure in the summer.
Furthermore, Tottenham must qualify for the Champions League in order to stand any chance of attracting players of his quality. It remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte can guide his side to a top four finish in the coming months.
