24 goal contributions this season: Tottenham officials scouted 24-yr-old on Thursday

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Sporting CP midfielder Marcus Edwards.

The 24-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Portuguese club this season scoring 12 goals and picking up 12 assists across all competitions.

Edwards impressed in the Champions League against Tottenham earlier this season and a report from 90 min claims that officials from the north London club were in attendance to watch the midfielder in action against Juventus this Thursday.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been linked with a return to the Premier League for months now and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal for him at the end of the season.

It is no secret that the north London giants need to bring in a quality attacking midfielder who will add goals and creativity from the central areas. A signing like him will help players like Harry Kane focus on their goal-scoring and it would help Tottenham break down the stubborn defences.

The 24-year-old will feel that he has unfinished business at the London club and he could be tempted to return to Tottenham at the end of the season. The north London giants recently agreed on a deal to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting CP and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the Portuguese outfit to sell the 24-year-old midfielder now.

A move to England would be a step up in the playmaker’s career, and playing against top-class defenders in the Premier League will help accelerate his development.
