23-year-old set for January exit, Tottenham offering huge discount – journalist

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence is all set to leave the club during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old defender will join Genoa on loan from Spurs until the end of the season. Fabrizio Romano claims that the Italian club will have the option to sign him permanently for a fee of around €10 million in June.

In addition to that, the North London outfit will pay his full salary until the end of his loan spell. Spence has been included in the deal to sign Radu Dragusin, who will now head to Tottenham.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Leeds United during the first half of the season, but the Championship outfit have decided to terminate his contract and send him back to his parent club this month.

There have been rumours of indiscipline and lack of professionalism from the defender. It will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track with regular football in Italy now.

If Genoa can give him the platform to showcase his abilities on a regular basis, it could prove to be a tremendous opportunities for the young defender. He has previously shown his quality in the Championship but he has not been able to lift up to the expectation since the £20 million move to the Premier league club.

This is a golden opportunity for him to get his career back on track with ample first-team action.
