19 goals in 19 games: Tottenham join two other Premier League clubs in race to sign attacker

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian forward Gift Orban.

The 20-year-old has done quite well for the Belgian outfit Gent this season, scoring 19 goals in 19 games across all competitions.

According to a report from Daily Mail, clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all sent scouts to watch the player in action.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to follow up on their interest and submit a concrete proposal for the player in the summer.

It is no secret that Spurs will have to add more attacking depth to their side and the 20-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment.

However, the report adds that Orban is likely to cost a significant sum of money this summer.

Tottenham clearly have other pressing needs and it is highly unlikely that they will spend big money on an attacker.

Tottenham must look to bring in a quality central defender, a goalkeeper and a central midfielder first.

As for Orban, it would be better for the youngster to stay at the Belgian club and continue his development with regular football for now. He cannot afford to sit on the bench at a top club at this stage of his career.

If he continues to progress and score goals consistently, the 20-year-old will have plenty of opportunities to join a big club in the near future. The striker has a contract with the Belgian club until the summer of 2027 and therefore they are under no pressure to cash in on him just yet.
