10 O’Clocker | NFA

By The Boy -

Part of me wants to believe that we’re all fussing over nothing. That there is a strategy in place. There is a master plan. Part of me needs to believe.

Having read the Evening Standard, I’m now wondering if that part of me is not belief, but a small bit of dry skin on the sole of my right foot. And I’ve a verruca on the way.

Tom Collomosse is a media voice on Spurs I’ve no cause to doubt. So when he suggests that when Tottenham become officially registered as NFA (No Fixed Abode) the plan, such that it is, is for us to go on tour. Go wild, go crazy, the hottest band in the land …Spinal Tap FC!

The list of suggested preferred venues makes for understandably grim reading.

One is Upton Park as blogged previously, which will then be owned by Galliard. Another is The Olympic Stadium, which point West Ham will have been busy with the Pikeynlisation of the premises.

What seems initially strange, yet rings harrowingly true, is that for the lesser, lower category games, we’d look at cheaper options, and Collomosse suggests that StadiumMK in Milton Keynes is a contender.

What’s obvious, is that whatever Levy & Co, decide to do before the redeveloped stadium is officially open, all interim solutions will have to be self funded.

So for example, if we have to rent a place to entertain say, Leicester City, it would be THFC that would take the hit for all the unsold seats if the venue was say, Wembley Stadium. Whereas, playing say, Manchester United, would probably fair better commercially.

Running concurrent to whatever the choice of venue will be the loss of all conventional match day revenue streams.

But the greatest cost is difficult to put a number on, because it’s financially unquantifiable.

How the hell are we going to mount a credible campaign, living out of suitcase?

This redevelopment has been on the cards for …look I can’t remember when this was first seriously mooted. Please, someone tell me there is more than an a half-cocked, ad hoc, half-a-plan to sort of wing it.
