UAE sheikh pictured in Tottenham with Daniel Levy fueling takeover rumours

By Mehdi Gokal -

Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, has been pictured alongside Sheikh Abdullah.

Sheikh Abdullah, the deputy ruler of Umm Al Quwain emirate, shared the picture with the Spurs boss on his official Instagram account, seemingly taken within the Lilywhites’ facilities.

The Tottenham supporters on social media immediately started engaging in speculation, suggesting that meeting could do something with a potential takeover.

The circulation of rumors shouldn’t be a shock, particularly since Tottenham were strongly associated with an appealing offer from Qatar Sports Investment towards the end of last year.

The development came following Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim’s unsuccessful attempt to secure control of Manchester United. Reports indicated that Jassim might consider acquiring the Lilywhites.

However, the hierarchy of the North London outfit demonstrated a hesitance to part with any portion of the club, given the substantial profit potential they’ve cultivated in recent years.

Daniel Levy has steered the ship for more than two decades, assuming the role of chairman from Alan Sugar in February 2001.

The English businessman also spearheaded the construction of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a few years back, alongside negotiating a ten-year contract to host NFL matches.

Despite loads of critique from fans recently, Levy has effectively positioned the club as a formidable brand, evident from the project’s ability to attract young talents from across the globe, as well as garnering interest from businessmen seeking investment opportunities.

He has also made Spurs strong financially, which fans have now started appreciating after to recent charges on the likes of Everton Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
