Home » Townsend Stinks

Andros Townsend is the latest Tottenham player to have entered the Bermuda Triangle.

Last seen contributing a wholly unspectacular 78 minutes to the home defeat to Aston Villa, the man with a forehead with even more room for advertising space than my own has really struggled this season.

16 Premier League appearances in 35 games tells its own story, the lowlight of which was getting hooked off after 30 minutes at Old Trafford on the 15th of March.

The allegation by me and others, is that he doesn’t do as he’s bloody well told.

Trains well, lots of ‘yes gaffer, of course gaffer’, but the moment he crosses the white line, he dons his Sir Blastalot outfit and decides to tilt not windmills, but innocent men, women in children sat in rows K – Z.

Previously in HH, I wondered if it was Andros that had opened his heart to Goal.com.

The quotes from the ‘unnamed source’ were as follows:

The only players he really talks to and shows interest in are Hugo [Lloris], Danny Rose and Harry Kane. The lack of personal feedback is frustrating. As a player you want to be told where to improve.

Do I need to work on my weaker foot? Is it my tactical positioning? Do I need to get fitter?

You don’t want to be told that everything is fine when you’re not getting the playing time you want.”

Certainly interesting timing, the lament to Gregg Stobart was published at 0930hrs on the 26th of April. The time is too precise, so the article was scheduled for release, so it was written at the very earliest sometime on the 25th.

Andros didn’t play in the win against Newcastle and was blanked again for the draw against The Saints on the 25th. We also know that he didn’t get play against Man City either.

Gladys the tea lady believes that my hunch was spot on.

Worse still, Andros simply doesn’t understand what the problem is.

Lamela & Chadli contribute so much more than Townsend, it’s embarrassing.

Until Townsend can show he has a willingness to learn, then any claims to being a first team regular will continue to be pretty thin.

We’ve been seen first hand on countless occasions how determined he is, but that’s missing the point. Determination on it’s own isn’t particularly helpful. At the moment Townsend is being told that he’s not quite fit enough, and there is a slight case for this.

However the real problem here is that Poch needs players who are team players.

Gladys predicts a fair amount of speculation over the future of young Townsend, much of it generated by his camp, seeking to gain a reaction from the club.

Perhaps he’d just be better off doing …what he’s told, instead of stinking the place out and trying to blame others?
