Tottenham learn massive asking price for 21-year-old ‘Rolls Royce defender’

By Saikat -

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

A report from INews claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are keen on signing the talented defender and they have been keeping tabs on his development.

Everton are not keen on losing him any time soon and they have now slapped a massive tag on the 21-year-old central defender. They will demand a fee of around £100 million if the likes of Tottenham come next month.

There is no doubt that Branthwaite is a prodigious talent with massive potential. He could develop into one of the best defenders in the Premier League with the right guidance.

Given how inflated the current transfer market is, it is hardly a surprise that Everton are demanding a premium.

It is unlikely that Tottenham will be able to pay that kind of money for the 21-year-old defender, and therefore a move seems improbable unless Everton are ready to let him leave for a reasonable fee.

Tottenham need to bring in a quality central defender in January and the 21-year-old would have been a solid, long-term acquisition for them. However, they are likely to be priced out of a move and it remains to be seen whether they decide to move onto other targets now.

Meanwhile, the report from INews has quoted a transfer insider labelling the Everton talent as a “Rolls Royce defender”. It will be interesting to see if he can fulfil his world-class potential with regular football in the coming seasons.
