Tottenham receive boost ahead of Chelsea clash: Injured player set to return

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury struggles persist as they approach crucial fixtures in their pursuit of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed the absence of key players Timo Werner and Ben Davies for the remainder of the season due to injuries, while Destiny Udogie had already been ruled out earlier.

Speaking to the media ahead of their clash against London rivals Chelsea, Postecoglou expressed concern over the mounting injury woes.

Timo Werner suffered a hamstring injury, while Ben Davies sustained a calf injury during recent matches.

Both players are expected to miss the remainder of the season, dealing a significant blow to Spurs’ campaign.

Oliver Skipp is expected to be back

However, there was a glimmer of hope as Postecoglou revealed that midfielder Oliver Skipp is set to return for the game against Chelsea. Skipp’s comeback provides a much-needed boost to the squad, despite him not being a regular starter.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game against their London rivals, the Australian manager said (via Football London):

“Yeah, not good. Unfortunately we’ve had a couple of issues from the game. Timo with his hamstring obviously so we’ve got two-and-a-half weeks to go so he’ll miss the rest of the season. Ben Davies has got a calf injury and he’s out of the game and he’ll probably miss the rest of the season as well.”

Everyone else is ok. Skippy should be back for this game, out of the ones who have been out.”

With just a few games left in the season, Tottenham remain hopeful of securing a top-four finish.

They are currently trailing Aston Villa by 7 points, however, they have two games in hand, which would reduce the gap to just one point.

That being said, the remaining fixtures aren’t easy for them as they face Chelsea tonight before travelling to Liverpool. They then play Burnley before they host Manchester City.
