Journalist names player who is most likely to replace the injured Destiny Udogie against Arsenal

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham were handed a major blow this past week with star defender Destiny Udogie confirming he will be out for the rest of the season with an injury.

Udogie’s absence comes at a pivotal moment, with Spurs locked in a tight battle for a top-four finish, currently trailing Aston Villa by six points with six games remaining and two games in hand.

They have several big games coming up, starting with a home game against Arsenal this weekend, followed by away trips to Chelsea and Liverpool. They then host Burnley before a potential title deciding game against Manchester City.

Udogie and Porro have been an integral part of the way Ange sets his team to play which relies heavily on the full-backs.

With the young Italian now out for the rest of the campaign, Tottenham will have to field a replacement.

Left-back Ryan Sessegnon is already out for the season, leaving Ange with two options, Ben Davies and Emerson Royal.

Dan Kilpatrick backs Davies to replace Udogie

Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick claims that utility player Ben Davies is the most likely to replace Udogie.

Known for his versatility, Davies can seamlessly slot into the left-back role or provide cover as a left-sided centre-back, offering Postecoglou some tactical flexibility.

Alternatively, Emerson Royal, primarily a right-back, is another option, having previously filled in at left-back when needed.

However, the decision ultimately rests with Postecoglou as he weighs his options ahead of the crucial clash against Arsenal.

Tottenham face a tough test against Arsenal

Facing an Arsenal side brimming with confidence following their dominant victory over Chelsea, Tottenham’s defensive solidity will be put to the test.

A win in the North London derby would not only provide a significant boost to Spurs’ top-four aspirations but also carry implications for the title race, adding extra stakes to an already highly anticipated fixture.

As Tottenham braces for a challenging run-in, finding solutions to their defensive dilemma will be paramount as they look to navigate through a crucial phase of the season under Postecoglou’s guidance.
