“That’s what I think will happen” – BBC pundit makes interesting Tottenham prediction

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s quest for a top-four finish in the Premier League faces a significant hurdle following their third consecutive defeat, this time falling 2-0 to Chelsea on Thursday evening.

The Lilywhites’ recent struggles have cast doubt on their hopes of securing a Champions League spot for next season, with just one win in their last five games leaving them trailing seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Despite having two games in hand, Spurs’ upcoming fixtures offer little respite, with challenging matches against Liverpool at Anfield and Manchester City at home still to come.

However, ahead of their clash against Liverpool, pundit Chris Sutton has expressed confidence in Ange Postecoglou’s side, anticipating a potential upset against Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Sutton highlighted Liverpool’s recent dip in form and a contentious incident involving Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp, suggesting that it could impact team dynamics.

In a bold prediction that diverges from popular opinion, Sutton forecasted a 2-3 victory for Tottenham Hotspur against Liverpool.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton remarked:

“Liverpool are not in great form and the incident with Mohamed Salah has not helped. I hope he apologised to Klopp for the way he behaved on the touchline last week.

“Salah is a great player but he is no different to everyone else in the squad in that, if he doesn’t perform well, I am afraid he is droppable. It is going to be very interesting to see whether Salah starts this game, which should be an absolute cracker.

“I thought Tottenham’s tactics would suit Arsenal last week and allow them to hit them on the counter-attack, and the same applies here.

When Liverpool turn the ball over, they are pretty devastating on the break, so the key for Spurs when they commit men forward will be to get the balance right. It will make for one hell of a game.

“Probably no one fancies Spurs to come out on top, other than me, but that’s what I think will happen, with the wheels coming off for Klopp properly this time. Prediction: 2-3.”

TBH Says:

Both teams are currently undergoing a dip in form, which is why it is difficult to say who will come out on top.

Spurs have a lot more to play for right now which is why one can hope that the players turn up tomorrow.
