Well done to Matt Law for getting the heads up which let the Daily Telegraph steal the march on everybody else – Kyle ‘Hot Dog & A Shake’ Walker is in all but name a Manchester City player.

News that which will undoubtedly be well received by his old lady, but has yet to fire up much angst amongst Spurs fans. I’m somewhat bemused by this reaction given I’ve been pilloried left right and centre for calling him Bonzo – because he’s a harebrained twit – yet set fire to the shirt because you’ve got to get the hell out of Dodge and barely a murmur.

Funny.

Old.

Game.

Kieran Trippier is a Daniel Levy wet dream. Cheaper, cheaper, ultimately less expensive, already on the books, won’t cost as much and for the love of dear god he’s better at playing football.

I know, it’s like the whole footballing world was suddenly a bald man’s sick twisted fantasy.

From article by Tom Collomosse in the Standard – Standard Sport also understands that during talks to finalise the move for Walker, City asked again about Rose.
Fucking goooner lying ‘fake news’ bastard.

Don’t expect our negotiations to go smoothly when badly plays hard ball with everyone, I’m sure we too in fact will pay over the odds again for some ordinary Joe I mean barkley!

  • Camus July 14, 2017 at 10:08 am

Confession time. I ordered a new Real Madrid away shirt on EBay for £14.99 – seller from China. I fully expected a dodgy replica but it looked legit in the photo and at that price I thought what the hell… It arrived and it’s a beauty! Looks legit in every way, as far as I can make out. If it’s a fake it’s an extremely good one, has all the Adidas labels and size guide printing inside the collar etc. So I thanked the guy and asked whether he might have the new Spurs away shirt, and waddya know, he said he has it… (he didn’t have it listed). So, I’ve paid £14.99 (free postage) for that too. I’ll let you know what it looks like when it turns up. If it looks the biz, I’ll share the link to the seller…

I used to get mine from aliexpress. All top notch, complete with numbers, lettering and badges. I think there has been a crackdown on these replica Spurs shirts as they are not as well advertised as some other clubs. It was definitely better than paying $119 AUS for a plain original shirt though.

you think this is a big signing for city? Meh! they have unlimited money! and will be back for Danny rose next season! ive got to be honest i am a bit disappointed in spurs at the moment not taking this very well. unless……

    • mattspurs July 14, 2017 at 10:53 am

City will be loaning out Stones and Walker to Stoke in two seasons while still paying their £200k wages

    • Harry Hotspur July 14, 2017 at 11:14 am

🙄 They don’t have unlimited money – have you actually looked at their spending over the last few seasons?

      • Daniel Primus July 14, 2017 at 11:25 am

so far they have spent £42m on silva £34mil on a keeper and now £50plus for walker plus more i imagine, that is unlimited money to me.

  • Camus July 14, 2017 at 9:33 am

I hope I’m wrong on this but I get the feeling we haven’t seen the end of the Dier speculation for this window. If he decides he wants to go, there’s only one outcome. From the outside, it looks like he wants to play CM and he won’t get to do so with Wanyama the best CDM in the PL. United are offering him that position plus a double-your-money offer. If he speaks up, well… I’m not saying it will happen, but if it does I’ll not be surprised…

    • Panama Paul July 14, 2017 at 12:02 pm

Mourinho is probably trying to get some leverage on Alli next season if he can pull this off.

  • SpurAndy 🍒π July 14, 2017 at 8:43 am

Good luck to the Walker, I think we’ll be poorer in that position for his departure but just hope that we use the money wisely and it makes us stronger overall.

    • Camus July 14, 2017 at 9:13 am

I had some wag on Twitter tell me we don’t need a replacement because we already have a good RB. I don’t think he really understood the bigger picture / squad game.

      • Freund or Foe July 14, 2017 at 9:27 am

Decision time on that. Tripps gets the starting berth, but do we buy in another, or is KWP ready? That`ll be a Poch call.

        • Camus July 14, 2017 at 9:29 am

Absolutely but the guy didn’t mention KWP, just said we already have a good right-back (Trippier) and therefore don’t need another.

          • Freund or Foe July 14, 2017 at 9:32 am

That`s a bit silly. What striker kind of striker club would go striker through a striker whole season with just striker one player striker per position?

            • Camus July 14, 2017 at 9:57 am

Beats me, mate. Never seen it before.

        • SpurAndy 🍒π July 14, 2017 at 9:35 am

KWP looks a very good prospect and ultimately I think can be better than Walker. Short term would like to see him have a couple of games this season but might be too early to see him as proper cover for Tripps.

      • SpurAndy 🍒π July 14, 2017 at 9:27 am

        Exactement.

Good luck Kyle, enjoy the dough!

  • coys1882 July 13, 2017 at 5:03 pm

This is beyond surreal! Kyle Walker will officially become the world’s most expensive defender, IN FOOTBALL HISTORY!!! Never in my wildest dreams/nightmares/drunken stupors/would I have ever believed I would be uttering those words! Man City have been right royally Levied!

I thought the Stones transfer was utterly insane, but this tops it. Look, I like Kyle and he has improved exponentially under Poch, but in my opinion he is a system full-back, our system, he doesn’t have anything like the skill set of an Alves for example.

Unfortunately for Walker also, there is going to be a huge weight of expectation from the City faithful for him to seamlessly slot in and fill Zabaleta’s shoes (a full back who I always rated highly). This could well turn out badly for City and for Kyle, unfortunately, who even at his best is not worth more than half of the truly unbelievable fee that City are about to stump up for him!

Walker is a right back form of Sol C**mpbell. Not a great footballer but has the speed to get himself and his team out of trouble. Only one of them is the Northern Hemesphere’s largest cu*t though and it’s not the Yorkshireman

  • melcyid July 13, 2017 at 4:44 pm

Sorry he has gone as part of the team ,fast and gave us toughness.glad hes gone cant cross and gives away too many fouls in dangerous positions running back to cover bad decisions.tugging at opponents shirts.Cant cross and only cuts back leaving opponents defence and our attack flat footed.Tripps is the best crosser in europe and our goal tally will improve this season he is adequate in defence.

  • Thepin July 13, 2017 at 4:39 pm

We should just spend the whole 50 Squillion on Champagne because every penny of it is bunce. Trippier came of age before our very eyes at the end of last season, even nicking Walker’s England place.

This is the shrewdest piece of transfer business since the wrong Sissoko to Spurs. I would love to see Pep’s face the first time Kyle knocks over all the cones at training.

  • Steve Marks July 13, 2017 at 4:28 pm

Walker has improved n recent seasons, I have always thought that is the Poch effect. Never worth £50m, does anyone expect the mistakes to come back again?

Trouble is…every club we are negotiating with will up the price knowing that we have at least £50m plus our original budget!

Equals the world record fee for a defender. Has Pep actually seen Walker play? Sideshow Bob & Bonzo the world’s most expensive defenders with Stones not far behind. The thing they all have in common is they can’t defend. How much does that value Toby & Verts at?

  • Ainsley July 13, 2017 at 4:26 pm

Walker improved so much over the last season or two and is the better player in just about every area except his crossing/final ball. We will miss him but hopefully Trippier will continue to improve and we can bring in decent cover.

The only thing that even comes close to concerning me is messing with the dressing room. As a player, Trippier is as good if not better so can only hope his move doesn’t go that well and he ends up a cautionary tale for others thinking the grass is greener. If he goes and wins the league then we’ll struggle to keep hold of others who want more money and more success.

    • Freund or Foe July 13, 2017 at 4:13 pm

Their attacking will be pretty frightening though. Can you imagine, De Bryne, Sane, Jesus, Aguero and Walker going at you full tilt?

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 13, 2017 at 4:42 pm

Their goal difference is going to be crackers.

      • Harry Hotspur July 13, 2017 at 4:22 pm

        Hahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhaha

  • thehughtonslice July 13, 2017 at 4:10 pm

Some footballers are as thick as two short planks and more often than not, complete wankers. Kyle Walker is only one of those. He has given us 7 or 8 years of sterling and mostly top quality service from which we are emerging £46m to the good. With a ready placed replacement it is all to easy to tell him to clear off and lock the door behind him but he will always deserve a massive reception back at the lane and I think he’ll make Citeh frighteningly good in attack.

    • MiT July 13, 2017 at 4:38 pm

Agree with most of this. Spurs fans will see his value in stretching out opposing defensive strategies now that he will be playing in another playground. His ability to latch onto the opposition’s more pacey players will also be missed… Especially on a large pitch.

I’ll miss him tremendously, as will Spurs. The last one to finish up with warmup drills, and the first one in line for the community support. I will still rock his shirt, and either way, I will see him in Nashville.

  • Pj July 13, 2017 at 4:09 pm

Great going forward with pace but often makes daft decisions! Thanks Good luck to him!
Sanchez at Ajax is a beast of a central defender, get him in pronto for Wimmer!
Bertrude at Southampton would make a decent replacement for Kyle.
Barkley in the middle! Has a lot to learn but will get coached and grafted, would like to see him with that extra fitness in his game.

    • Thehughtonslice July 13, 2017 at 4:37 pm

Not entirely sure Bertrude from Southampton would be a good replacement for Walker. He’s a left back who is even more one footed than Danny Rose

      • 61SpursNut🌰 July 14, 2017 at 10:58 am

        UnkleTaff
He is an exquisite crosser of a football. If we can tweak the way we play slightly to accommodate this quality we’ll be scoring goals for fun next season.

Like we did at the end of twenty1-6/twenty1-7.

        • 61SpursNut🌰 July 14, 2017 at 10:58 am

WTF? How’d that end up here?

  • East Stand July 13, 2017 at 4:09 pm

Fans not being largely bothered about Walker’s exit kind of speak volumes for the good work Poch and his staff are doing.

A few seasons ago this would have been seen as the beginning of the end of the current side as Walker was a big name in the side whereas now he’s seen as a very useful but replaceable cog in the machine…

  • Matty k July 13, 2017 at 4:08 pm

Trippier was playing far more effective crosses in whenever he played last season; feels like we’ve been given £50m for a half decent player who was already being phased out. That said, the money needs to be reinvested in the squad, along with the Benteleb fee, if we are to make any headway this window

  • Elevenstonedidiots July 13, 2017 at 4:06 pm

This is great deal for Spurs only if the money is spent on quality replacements. In reality we will probably buy some chump with chump change who has N’ before their name while the rest ends up in Joe’s arse pocket.

    • Harry Hotspur July 13, 2017 at 4:08 pm

      Well said.

A considerable fucking form guide says it fucking won’t be.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 13, 2017 at 4:12 pm

Investing the money in quality? Hmmmm….I think the everley brothers sung a song about that….

  • Ufluckinplic July 13, 2017 at 4:03 pm

Good business and the cash shouldn’t rest in the account to long as the replacement and squad additions should already be identified. Wouldn’t it be nice to get our signings in for a Poch pre-season instead of playing catchup. Shift your arse Danny Boy.

    • Freund or Foe July 13, 2017 at 4:04 pm

      Howdy Mr Plick, how`s tings?

      • Ufluckinplic July 13, 2017 at 4:06 pm

On the up Freundy, not quite tickety boo but getting there. And your good self?

        • Freund or Foe July 13, 2017 at 4:08 pm

Can`t complain dude, but obviously do! Glad things are on the up, long may that continue.

    • Horndog July 13, 2017 at 4:25 pm

Yay, you’re back. Good to see you Plickster.

      • Ufluckinplic July 13, 2017 at 4:28 pm

        Thanking you kindly Mr Horndog.

  • Freund or Foe July 13, 2017 at 4:01 pm

Cheerio Kyle, and many thanks. You were mostly pretty damn good, but on occasions pretty terrible . Definitely not pretty, which leads me to wonder how you got yourself into this situation in the first place? Never mind, that`s all in the past now. For sure, undoubtedly.

  • Nick July 13, 2017 at 4:00 pm

is there a sell on clause from Sheffield Utd?

    • Gary M July 13, 2017 at 4:02 pm

      10%

    • Harry Hotspur July 13, 2017 at 4:08 pm

They are reported to get £5M

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 13, 2017 at 3:59 pm

With 55 million can we genetically engineer a 28 year old Chris waddle?

  • Nick July 13, 2017 at 3:59 pm

Most of walkers pace has ultimately been used recovering bad positions or chasing balls he didn’t read properly in the 1st place.Although bombing down the line is great to watch our style of play now doesn’t require it as much as the old days.good luck to him I say.veltman is a good call to replace him & put pressure on trippier

    • Chris Cyprus Yid July 13, 2017 at 4:00 pm

      Agree 100%

  • modricbigtoe July 13, 2017 at 3:58 pm

as you describe the ins and out would be very good business indeed

  • Chris Cyprus Yid July 13, 2017 at 3:56 pm

I think it’s a good deal, he had a few stinkers last season and also fell out with Poch.
“I know, it’s like the whole footballing world was suddenly a bald man’s sick twisted fantasy” BRILLIANT.. You are quite funny, sometimes. COYS

  • Karnage July 13, 2017 at 3:55 pm

Trippier has a better footballing brain so in the long run a better player. Walker much like Walcott is all pace and very little football intelligence.

Levy needs to now back our manager and get the players he wants but never seen him do this so expect the worst.

  • VincentianMagic July 13, 2017 at 3:54 pm

£50M is good business all-round. Add Wimmer and Sissy and we should have circa £85M or so.

We must buy decent replacements though for all three and ideally add at least another quality player into the mix.

I think £8-10M for Veltman is a steal as he can cover both CB and RB; the boy Perreira is a good attacking LWB option but will be £20M or so.

Still think we will go for Barkley and Gray for some reason, but I’d like to see us make a move for Kovecic and King.

Either way, things need to happen soon if we are to actually have any chance of starting the season properly and with a full squad.

    • modricbigtoe July 13, 2017 at 3:58 pm

as you describe the ins and out would be very good business indeed

  • AccringtonSpurs July 13, 2017 at 3:53 pm

    £55m reported

  • Wig July 13, 2017 at 3:49 pm

We have many players that are our crown jewels that would be irreplaceable, especially in money terms that Levy would need to fork out to replace like for like. Walker on the other hand already seems replaced by Trippier, with Walker-Peters coming through and isn’t the Argentinian youth we’re looking to buy possible cover at full back? Thanks for you services and goodbye Walker

  • Woody July 13, 2017 at 3:47 pm

Trippier is a better defender. Not as fast but better end product going forward and with a brain more turned on when actually doing the much underestimated task of a right back called defending. Just gutted its a money only deal. I know “swap deals” only happen on the back page of the Star but I was really hoping for Iheanacho.

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 13, 2017 at 3:47 pm

50 mill plus their saying…..hahaaahaha!! Pep strikes again! Mug punter.

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 13, 2017 at 3:44 pm

What’s keiran on? £42 a week and a packet of chocolate buttons for each “assist”.

    • Freund or Foe July 13, 2017 at 3:52 pm

Reasonable expenses, and love of the shirt.

      • tellie July 13, 2017 at 4:13 pm

Maybe Sissoko could play there with Tripier in front. He is a great crosser of a ball. Walker will be missed as eventually he became a good defender who muscled and fouled well. Sissoko can dish it out. Is he quick? I don,t know. He looks it.
Remember the brilliant and best defensive reader of a game Toby A. behind him for cover. Was this his position for France?
Am I mad in thinking this as this bloke has no chance of scoring goals but running from deep he has the Gareth power,

        • Harry Hotspur July 13, 2017 at 4:23 pm

Sissoko? Are you on fucking crack cocaine?
