  • Aside from cerebrospinal fluid, what's on your mind?

  • poxy January 25, 2019 at 12:46 am

If Poch goes to Man Utd he might not be successful; he might be one of those managers who does incredibly well with limited resources but when given a billion pounds to spend makes a pig’s ear of things. At Spurs, however, I think he has been doing an amazing job (Guardiola and Klopp in my view would need plenty of good fortune to win the title with us under the present constraints). I don’t know how he does it and for how much longer he can go on doing it – or want to go on doing it! On paper, we’re getting weaker all the time; for example, think of Walker and Rose a few years back with their dynamic overlapping play and what we have now! Also, we had Moussa and Wanyama providing effective cover in front of the defence and what do we have now? Greater maturity must to some degree be counter balancing the reduction in talent and potential and the fact that some of these players have been playing together for quite a while now.

    • East Stand January 25, 2019 at 9:20 am

      Good post Poxy.

I guess we will never know how Poch would do with more of a budget. When we ever see it, nobody thinks that it will be at Spurs.

      ENIC out.

  • dilly January 25, 2019 at 12:39 am

For want of repetition when a striker of Llorente’s limited calibre relies on a diet of crosses from the flanks whats the point ignoring Nocluedo?

    • dilly January 25, 2019 at 12:42 am

Surely it’s time to unleash Troy Parott?

      • East Stand January 25, 2019 at 9:31 am

        Unleash… love it!!

    • East Stand January 25, 2019 at 9:24 am

Noclue has put in one great cross so far during his Spurs career, in our last league game. To suggest he should be starting on the strength of that is ridiculous. He couldn’t even get in the Burnley first 11…

  • poxy January 24, 2019 at 11:59 pm

Under Enic, we are in serious danger now of becoming a club that essentially belongs to the past like Aston Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves etc. In London it’s no contest; we’re a very poor third behind Arsenal and Chelsea.
    League titles since 1961:

    Arsenal 6
    Chelsea 5
    Spurs 0

F.A. Cup wins (once our speciality) since 1991

    Arsenal 8
    Chelsea 7
    Spurs 0

League titles and F.A. Cup wins combined since 1991:

    Chelsea 12 (5 + 7)
    Arsenal 11 (3+8)
    Spurs 0 (0+0!)

Makes sad and embarrassing reading, doesn’t it?

    • Tappaspur January 25, 2019 at 8:30 am

Not good reading to start the day. Pathetic. Cha!

      • Tappaspur January 25, 2019 at 8:31 am

We beat them all 2-1 on pitches 🙂

        • Tappaspur January 25, 2019 at 8:34 am

          European cups?

  • Nick January 24, 2019 at 11:49 pm

Next dvd release from THFC “the fortnight that ended a season “
Eriksen has already left,in mind if not in body.If your earlier blog was an indication of truth then there’s not a second string lightweight on the planet that Poch can accept right now. This squad is dead on its feet, every sinew & muscle worked to exhaustion on the training pitch with not a calorie or kilojoule left for the real games.ENIC must be happy as Larry,The promise that could have forced their hand with a statement signing has now disintegrated & faded to the point of waiting till summer, sell the crown jewels yet again & start once more on the merry go round of shit.
This may seem a little knee jerk for a Mickey Mouse cup but the writing is on the wall for probably the greatest manager we’ve had since bill nick & I for one don’t like it.

  • Cabspur January 24, 2019 at 11:26 pm

As if we havent had it hard enough all bloody season it has to be the season they change the away goals rule .
Gutted that i am not making a final to boost our fatigued troops and fans it doesnt touch the year we didnt make the champs league when the racists won it that year and stole our place .
Even worse they won it with the shitist style of football ever to grace a pitch.

  • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:13 pm

I’m off, pleased all that wooden spoon cup shit’s over with for another season… Night.

    • poxy January 25, 2019 at 12:27 am

That’s the one consolation; it is pretty much a Mickey Mouse cup and of limited significance. Sadly, even the F.A. Cup – while a much superior tournament to the League Cup – is such a pale shadow of what it once was, a thought I shall bring to the fore as attempted consolation if we lose to Palace on Sunday which is a very realistic possibility. And as for the Europa League, if you’re a club from one of the major leagues you have to be an also ran in your own land to qualify for it, so how can winning that be an authentic honour? No, there are only two real biggies and barring a significant change in football’s set up we’re not going to win those anytime soon, if ever!

      • East Stand January 25, 2019 at 9:30 am

I thought we were great in the 2nd half, missing three of our best players and a budget a 3rd of the size of Chavski and no signings in the summer.

That’s not a losers mentality, it’s about being realistic on our where we are at and the job Poch and his staff are doing. The only person at the person with a losers mentality is Daniel fucking Levy…

Don’t worry Poxy, we’ll beat Palace.

        • East Stand January 25, 2019 at 9:30 am

          At the club I mean.

  • Billy the yid January 24, 2019 at 11:09 pm

Aurier????? Lamela???? Llorente???? Davies while he was there???? None of those players get in any top 6 side, yet we have to persist due to a total lack of ambition. Wouldn’t be a huge shock to think there may be words along the lines of fuck Sunday I need top 4 cash. But I agree I can see it being a struggle to achieve. Unless Daniel goes shopping tomorrow…. Cathedral city anyone

    • poxy January 25, 2019 at 12:50 am

Yes, agreed, a pretty mediocre bunch!

  • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 10:59 pm

Let’s take a step back to see the bigger picture, Levy’s dream, imagine, where we could be, how close it all is is, then fall over and injure ourselves …..

    • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:02 pm

The never ending pursuit of the promised land, it’s the ENIC marketing ploy…

      • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 11:03 pm

        With cheese

        • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:08 pm

          And micro brewed beer!

      • Richard Taylor January 24, 2019 at 11:40 pm

Too true! it was supposed to be a 1,000 year Third Reich; under Enic , I reckon we’ve got the 1,000 year PROJECT!

    • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 11:06 pm

The dream was to get us back to Wembley in 2019, just wish they’d specified it would be a final

  • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:57 pm

I didn’t think we’d make top four before the season started and i don’t think we will now. Between those two points when everyone was fit it looked like we might but imho it’s going to be a slow depressing grind towards the end of the season and i think we’re going to end up with a big fat zero, other than back to the Thursday night fuckwittery.

    • Accy January 24, 2019 at 10:58 pm

At least we’re safe from relegation

    • dilly January 24, 2019 at 10:58 pm

Play KWP, Skipp, Sterling and Troy Parrott against Palace for starters!

      • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:09 pm

Why? On what basis DD old chap?

        • dilly January 24, 2019 at 11:12 pm

To liven things up by refreshing the troups.

          • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:14 pm

            Bless you.

    • dilly January 24, 2019 at 11:00 pm

      Top 4
      1. Liverpool
      2. Citeh
      3. Chelski
      4. Manure

      • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 11:00 pm

Nah, I’m confident in top 4, not confident in keeping key players

      • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 11:11 pm

That’s about the 10th time you’ve posted up that top 4 DD, sure you did something similar last season too. Here’s me thinking you were an optimist as well…

        • dilly January 24, 2019 at 11:13 pm

          True!

  • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 10:54 pm

Poch is a problem in that he is prepared to play with bare bones and not stand up to the big man. A quizling

    • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 11:04 pm

Maybe the only tactic Poch has

  • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 10:52 pm

Yes, we lost tonight. BUT NEVER, EVER FORGET, we have the biggest cheese room in the premier league. Gertcha

    • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:53 pm

      Buuurrp!!

  • dilly January 24, 2019 at 10:51 pm

Is Spurs season about to implode?

    • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:52 pm

      discuss..
      🤪

      • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 10:52 pm

I can feel a 5,000 word essay coming on for a teacher who doesn’t really give a shit

        • dilly January 24, 2019 at 10:56 pm

Lamella, Moura, Sissy, Aurier simply not good enough.
Llorente up top and not playing Nocluedo to supply crosses is a very strange decision?
Butterfly Eriksen who failed this big occasion contributed nothing.

      • dilly January 24, 2019 at 10:53 pm

Well defeat against Palace and Dortmund leaves us just 4th spot to fight for!

        • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:54 pm

          Oh, how very exciting!

        • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 10:54 pm

The 4th best team deserves a cup and saucer

        • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 11:02 pm

Dilly, there was a comma missing in that sentence

          • dilly January 24, 2019 at 11:04 pm

            Duly noted!. After well!

            • Sid Trotter January 24, 2019 at 11:04 pm

Indeed, I expect more, consider yourself on probation

    • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:53 pm

No because etc the aim was top 4 and we are still very much on course for that. Winning something was not and never is the aim with ENIC…

  • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:37 pm

On another point, listened to the Talkshite commentary during the game and when we started playing in the 2nd half and Poch dropped Dier into the back three Matterface (however you bloody spell it) started going on about what tactical genius Poch was and how it’s “inevitable that big clubs would be fluttering their eyelids his way”.

I mean the glaring criticism of Poch from the media has always been that he’s great coach but lacking tactically, one high profile game where he changes it around since Manure sacked Maureen and suddenly he’s a tactical genius too… Fucking media agenda all the time.

    • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 10:39 pm

Thing is he’s done this change before, it’s one in pochs playbook

    • dilly January 24, 2019 at 10:49 pm

It’s no denying that over the 2 legs the better team won.
      a) Lamella – disappointed – average – contributed nothing offload him in the summer
      b) Eriksen – forgetting it was a semi final lacking the stomach for a fight butterfly Eriksen was save for that delicious cross for Llorente contributed nothing of note was anonymous
      c) Llorente – scored and may have benefited from Nocluedo’s crosses had he been selected. PLAY PARROTT
d)IMO KWP is better than Aurier who was poor and should be offloaded in the summer.
      e) Dier does a job
      f) Winks neat and tidy as always.

  • j January 24, 2019 at 10:29 pm

Is Poch amazing? He’s a great coach and gets a lot out of poor players but a better tacticians would have strolled to a couple of league cups and an FA cup with our squad over the last few seasons. I don’t dislike Poch but he is tactically inept and routinely gets out thought. He doesn’t rotate players and his teams always collapse at the end of he season. He’s won nothing. He decided to off-load players like Sigurdsson without even assessing them properly. I have a suspicion he actually rates Llorente. IMO Redknapp would have won something with this squad and he took us further in the CL (I think, my memory is bad and I can’t be arsed to google).

    • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:31 pm

      Yeah, don’t bother…

      • j January 24, 2019 at 10:33 pm

        He did we got QF

        • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:38 pm

          Your point being what exactly?

    • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? January 24, 2019 at 10:44 pm

Il take Rednapp over poch anyday. His teams were a joy

      • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:51 pm

I thought Redknapp did well at the time and under the circumstances and the football was a brand that fitted with the Spurs way. However, Poch has done it with less of budget and with unproven talent whereas Redknapp filled the side up with journeymen.

In a way Poch is more of a Levy ‘stooge’ because he can deliver what he does with what he has whereas Redknapp was always going to be kicked out on the basis that hardly any of the team would have had any resale value. Levy likes to sell the team off at the first sign of any real traction, before the fans get too optimistic and excited.

        • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 11:01 pm

I think the money argument is Levy still wants 2009 prices for transfers when everyone else pays today’s rate and still cream off the higher revenues

  • Only me January 24, 2019 at 10:26 pm

Ok. So we lost… let’s face it, do you think the side tonight would have stood a chance against city? Would have been a hard final fully fit. Defeatest i know, but used to falling at this point so much now.

    • MrChickenHead January 24, 2019 at 10:29 pm

Agreed but fully fit I think we would be in the final.

      • Only Me January 24, 2019 at 10:36 pm

They got a very lucky first and a very easy 2nd against a side they had no fear of. Had we been fully fit, or had at least 2 of Kane, Alli and Son then they would have been more worried. We were poor and almost made it. That was not due to us but a piss poor Chelsea side. City would probably get 5 against the side that played tonight.

      • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:42 pm

Me too, Kane and Alli always play well against Chavski. Couldn’t give a crap, don’t like Chatski and don’t much care for the League Cup much either.

The poisonous sugar drink makers have THEIR branded team in THEIR final, everyone’s happy…

    • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 10:38 pm

At the top end of football whilst you hope to get your best 11 out, you’ve a squad because you often don’t.

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? January 24, 2019 at 10:25 pm

Statement coming out from Levy. “we would like to sign players but who would sit on the bench behind Llorente?”

    • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 10:49 pm

Statement from levy is I bet you all know what an Alex Salmond date feels like (allegedly)

  • Eddie January 24, 2019 at 10:19 pm

Aside from the players missing tonight, there were few players on show that provided promise for the future.Gazza,Toby,Jan and Danny good,Eriksen probably gone, Harry Winks good performance, other than that the others offered nothing to be honest. There is so much to be put right and Levy will do nothing.Poch will go in the summer I think
Listening to Poch now ,he can’t believe the shit he comes out with,he’s following the party line…………until the summer.

    • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:24 pm

Aurier, Davies, Sissoko, Trippier not good enough in my opinion and Rose is past his best too. I’m not even going to get into the bench because it’s pointless.

ENIC and Levy have ZERO ambition to win anything other than winning over the fans with their bullshit about the new stadium.

Poch is amazing, ENIC are crooks…

  • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:17 pm

Poch chippy as fuck in his post match, shades of Mounhino

    • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:18 pm

but he’s still so proud and so happy

      • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:19 pm

Feel you’re being harsh on Poch, what else is he supposed to say?

        • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:23 pm

How am i being harsh, by describing what i saw as his demeanor? He was chippy and needlessly antagonistic towards the interviewer.

          • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:26 pm

His team has just lost a semi final…

            • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:38 pm

Understood Easty but he’s been there before and conduction post match interviews are all part and parcel of it, which he has always done professionally. This was the first time i’ve ever seen him like that so i was purely describing what i saw. But i did think he was being Jose like with the interviewer and it didn’t suit him.

              • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:44 pm

Perhaps the interviewer was being a twat?

                • paul January 24, 2019 at 10:48 pm

Less than usual i would say!

                  • East Stand January 24, 2019 at 10:58 pm

Slightly less of a twat, but still a twat…

        • Paddio January 24, 2019 at 10:23 pm

He has to motivate what he has left of a squad, pma all the way
