Tottenham Hotspur host Leicester City in matchday 26 of the Premier League on Sunday 10th February, 1:30pm at Wembley Stadium.

The hosts currently sit in 3rd place in the table having beaten Newcastle United 1-0 last time out, while the visitors are in 12th after their 0-1 loss against Manchester United.

Redknapp’s ghost Tottenham have set a new Premier League record of going 29 Premier League games without a single draw. The last top-flight team to have a longer run were Portsmouth between March 1928-February 1929 (38 games).

SPURS XI Lloris (C), Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose, Winks, Sissoko, Skipp, Eriksen, Son, Llorente.

Full side below👇

Goals on demand Over the course of their previous 20 Premier League matches, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have scored at a rate of over two goals per game. What’s more, a minimum of three goals have been netted in six of their last eight fixtures at this level.

Early Spurs strike? Leicester have a significant problem when it comes to conceding first, doing so nine times in their most recent 11 Premier League games. Tottenham, by way of contrast, have gone 1-0 up in six of their last eight top-flight fixtures at Wembley.

These recent results are yet another false dawn. We have lost two top players in Kane and Ali but have had a string of games against mid table and below teams. We have struggled to beat them and never looked totally superior against any of them. The last top teams we played were Man Utd in the EPL and Chelsea in the Carabo cup and they both looked better quality than us in those games. We have some more encounters ahead with top sides and with no midfield to speak of and defensive weakness along our right flank and at times our left flank we will get pulled apart and I sense us getting soundly beaten. Trippier against Sterling or Sane makes my waters break….

Dreams & imaginings I know but if we were not in the oligarchs & oil era we could’ve had back to back titles. We play poorly but get the result. We get very few decisions from any ref at the moment yet we still get the job done. Many say Poch is towing the Enic line but as long as this continues I’ll go with Poch. This summer is big, very big,new stadium or not.If Poch stays we have the signing of the season

Another daft comment, this time by the Telegraph saying Spurs were virtually at full strength apart from a few injuries….

Adios amigos – signing off this eve for work reasons!

  • poxy February 10, 2019 at 8:49 pm

Yes, Top Four now looking quite possible (I’d like to get top three again!), but DD’s predicted top four is still a possibility. Remember in Leicester’s year all the jokes about Goonerdammerung – the twilight of the arses – and they went on to pip us for 2nd position. This is Spurs we are talking about, so let’s try not to get ahead of ourselves; we don’t want to put a jinx on our team!

    • SpursGoliath February 10, 2019 at 9:23 pm

In the next five rounds of fixtures Man Utd are either going to drop out of the running for top 4 or if they continue avoiding defeat they’ll have helped us out a heap by hobbling Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

      • dilly February 10, 2019 at 9:28 pm

I think Liverpool will puncture their winning streak or draw.

  • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Incredible that this team is even in the discussion for the title, it’s mainly hype as we aren’t close enough but it’s nice all the same…

    • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:46 pm

      +1

  • Lilywhite without the II February 10, 2019 at 7:29 pm

btw – my ST has increased by £380 AND we no longer get free cup games included AND assuming I buy food & drink at the new stadium they will get more of my money…AND train tickets and gone up roughly 15%…
Not to support Poch in either window was the icing on the cake and I will not go back to Wembley unless it is for a semi/final

  • Lilywhite without the II February 10, 2019 at 7:21 pm

Hang on Tapp…that’s not fare to criticise fans at this point…I’m a ST holder and haven’t been in a long time…I resented being forced last season to keep my ticket (otherwise lose it!) for Wembley but I did so in support of the team and went to most games…this year I accepted a few games at Wembley so went and supported the team….then it became obvious Levy was playing up to no good…AND, still expects fans to pay top dollar for a venue they didn’t choose…I support my team by paying full price to Sky & BT and only stream games when neither are shown…..my round trip is roughly 5 hours plus the game time to either Wembley or The Lane (Wembley being worse to get out of)….I think I’ve done my bit for Levy, what is he doing for me!

    • Mikespurs February 10, 2019 at 8:32 pm

The way they pulled every penny from st holders was criminal. Renew at Wembley or loose your place. I really hate enic

  • Tappaspur February 10, 2019 at 5:55 pm

We’ll need to fill that place and “noise it up” if we are to beat Dortmund.

    • dilly February 10, 2019 at 6:38 pm

A 1 nil win is not the worst result but you sense we require a minimum 2 nil advantage to boost our chances of progressing to the last 8!

  • Tappaspur February 10, 2019 at 5:53 pm

We desperately need to go home. F u c k knows how we’ve got this far without a roar. I feel sorry for the players. No atmosphere. A top dj wouldn’t play his best set in a half empty quiet club!

    • poxy February 10, 2019 at 6:05 pm

Incidentally, Tappaspur, while you’re there, I wasn’t meaning to imply that we would only get 2 points from the five upcoming fixtures that I highlighted (viz. away games at Liverpool, City, Chelski and home ones against Hammers and the Foxes), but simply to point out the potential hazards and low returns from these games. Thinking about it on your basis, I think I would have suggested a possible return of just 4 points and not above 8 in any case. Now, with a victory (albeit a rather fortuitous one) against Leicester, 4 , hopefully, looks a little pessimistic. To win three of these games, we would be doing very well and to win four would be astounding … and, alas, highly improbable!

      • Tappaspur February 10, 2019 at 6:15 pm

Could handle all of them if fans could be bothered to come support the f u c k I n g team. Season ticket holders getting their £52 back and coating off the f u c k I n g suits on the internet. Best fans in the world my arse. Not even all the community tickets are being used. Its embarrassing. As I said I feel sorry for the poch and the boys.

        • Mikespurs February 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

The fans have been treated poorly to be fair. I’ll still be coming over the pond for my yearly trip but like you said in an early post. Other then my ticket, wont pay a cent inside the stadium. I’ll spend my money going to atwerps & bricklayers. Always manage a good time even if it’s not on match day.

          • Tappaspur February 10, 2019 at 7:16 pm

The antwerp. The community owned pub that does great work in the community. I never spent a penny at Wembley earlier though I did do a piss.

            • Mikespurs February 10, 2019 at 8:20 pm

Haha. Ya Antwerp, great place. Have a few funny stories from there.

              • Mikespurs February 10, 2019 at 8:23 pm

HH recommended that bar a few years ago when I came over for the first time. Didnt disappoint

    • poxy February 10, 2019 at 6:12 pm

Some truth in that, but while Dortmund will probably give us a right going over if we repeat this afternoon’s performance, I think for a floodlit European game there will be a more charged atmosphere and that may help us to put in a much better performance.

    • poxy February 10, 2019 at 6:17 pm

In my piece below on “How does Poch do it?”, that’s another disadvantage he and the team are labouring under that I forgot to mention, that of playing all our home games at Wembley.

  • poxy February 10, 2019 at 5:51 pm

Mind you, honesty compels me to admit that today’s scoreline doesn’t show us in a very good light – we lost our semi final to this lot and deservedly so!

        • dilly February 10, 2019 at 6:43 pm

          It was:-
          1. Liverpool
          2. Citeh
          3. Chelski
          4. Manure

            • dilly February 10, 2019 at 7:39 pm

Whilst Spurs are clearly in the box seat for a top 4 spot IMO lets see what happens at the end of the season when seemingly moi of little faith having not been the only poster to have questioned our top 4 credentials especially as we have some tough fixtures ahead.

          • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:37 pm

            1.Citeh
            2.Liverpool

            • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:39 pm

Had we signed a couple of quality players in the summer we would finish above Liverpool and run Citeh very close, possibly win it.

However, we are run by cunts…

              • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:43 pm

You say a couple of quality additions. I say more!

                • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:44 pm

                  – Full backs not good enough
                  – Need a creative midfielder
                  – Adding pace to the flanks
                  -Quality back up striker.

            • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:40 pm

              Brave man!
As stated as Liverpool have a game in hand that could be crucial in the final reckoning.

              • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:52 pm

It will be close but with DeBruyne getting sharper with every game you sense that Citeh’s petrodollar juggernaut is back on track.

Tough to call but I can easily see Liverpool being reeled in, the pressure might prove just too much for the Klopp hype machine…

                • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:54 pm

Having recruited wisely why condemn Klopp?

                  • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:55 pm

who having had the financial backing from the Board has tightened their Defence!

                    • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 9:02 pm

Wasn’t hard, their defence was garbage last season. I wonder what Poch could do with 200m?

                  • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 9:00 pm

Because I feel he is overrated and if he had to operate under the clowns that own Spurs Like Poch does, that he would fare significantly worse.

Plus he annoys me running doing things like running onto the pitch like a big kid, as he did against Everton. It’s disrespectful of the opposition and all about projecting an image of himself. Bit of a clown really.

                    • dilly February 10, 2019 at 9:04 pm

Why disrespectful? If I was manager and we eaten Arse with the last kick of the game I would have run on the pitch to celebrate with the players. Quirky Klopp is a passionate guy endearing himself to the Liverpool fans. I like that.

                    • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 11:21 pm

Each to their own, Klopp isn’t on the same planet as Poch if you ask me.

Klopp is under far more pressure to win something than Poch.

        • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:29 pm

I would take no pleasure in your wrongness, but do you think we’ll blow top 4 and Liverpool will win the title?

          • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:38 pm

            Easty:-

            1. Significantly Liverpool have a game in hand when too close to call the title race currently looks like it is going down to the wire.
            2. Equally should Spurs falter the fight for Top 4 spot could go down to the wire.

            • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:44 pm

Manure have done too much faltering already and Cheatski are now out faltering everyone. We would have to seriously implode Chav-style to miss out now, still have Kane & Alli to return too.

Woolwich are pitifully off the pace…

              • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:46 pm

                • dilly February 10, 2019 at 8:49 pm

You say that but should we lose to Burnley, Chelski, Arse, Spammers, Citeh and Liverpool + other fixtures that could bring Arse and Chelski back into the reckoning.

                  • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:54 pm

Any team that lost that many fixtures would be in the shit, have you seen anything to suggest that Spurs would?

                  • East Stand February 10, 2019 at 8:55 pm

Also, Arsenal aren’t up to much are they? They really are quite shit…

  • poxy February 10, 2019 at 5:36 pm

In reply to lillywhite without the ll, I honestly don’t know how Poch does it with the zero spending in the transfer market and a side containing a greater number of players affected by the world cup than anyone else (?) and with so little quality back-up and, in terms of potential, a weaker team than a year or two back( no marauding full backs like Walker and Rose at their best and Dembele and Wanyama screening the defence). Though he basically understands the nature of the so called “project”, there must surely be times when he feels frustrated by events. I have to admire his emotional intelligence that he’s got this far down the road without telling our esteemed CEO to shove his “project” where the sun doesn’t shine!

  • Mikespurs February 10, 2019 at 5:32 pm

It is delicious, isn’t it, watching the nouveau riche of Chelsea and their Russian spiv owner, getting annihilated? Especially after the way they escaped virtually scot free from that explosive meeting with us during Leicester’s year; the way they had been stirring up things before that game, some of the blame should have been apportioned to them – a charge of bringing the game into disrepute would have been quite appropriate in my view.

This won’t do their goal difference a lot of good, either!

  • SpursGoliath February 10, 2019 at 5:31 pm

From this point out we should secure top three – United’s next 8 fixtures in all competitions is the stuff of nightmares, see them dropping 6 points in the league. Chelsea I think are done. Arsenal probably the biggest threat but still…don’t see it.

Looking above us…Liverpool aren’t invincible. The game against United will be fascinating. A draw in that match and a win for us vs Burnley would be a big moment.

City though – sadly I think the title is now theirs, as it likely always was. We HAVE to beat them to have any hope of winning the league, simple as that. As it should be tbh.

Have to echo what DD has just said below; seldom have I seen such a flattering 3-1 win. We could easily have LOST this game, the Foxes incredibly inefficient in front of goal, unlike of yore with their crude long ball over the top for Vardy to run onto – not very stylish, but oh so effective!

I suppose one might be tempted in the light of today’s events to say that a really good team is able to get results when playing badly, but that is to overlook the fact that we owed much – too much! – to Leicester’s profligacy; Liverpool or Man City would have picked us off. But the three points is welcome, nevertheless, given the struggles we’ve had in home games against them in recent seasons; I thought we might well struggle to get the full quota of points from this one.

    • Marsinho February 10, 2019 at 5:22 pm

Both Eriksen and Son took their goals well but it’s difficult to assess who had a standout performance for Spurs today. Sufficient to say Skipp is out of his depth!

Imagine if we spent 100m on 2 class players last Summer. We’d be a chance in every comp.

Mismanagement of the stadium means I reckon we won’t buy anyone next window either, unless Eriksen goes.

  • Limerick AL. February 10, 2019 at 3:26 pm

Its a funny old game. This is true.

    • Al February 10, 2019 at 3:56 pm

      Hear hear

    • poxy February 10, 2019 at 5:15 pm

I honestly don’t know how he does it with the zero spending in transfer windows and a side containing a greater number of players knackered by the world cup than anyone else , and with so little back-up. Though to some extent, he understands the nature of “the project”, there must surely be times when he feels frustrated. I have to admire the man’s undoubted emotional intelligence that he’s got this far down the road without telling our esteemed CEO To put his “project” where the sun doesn’t shine!

  • Lord Croker February 10, 2019 at 3:22 pm

    The killer blow.

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? February 10, 2019 at 3:18 pm

9 points clear of 4th. Incredible what you can achieve with no squad or ground when you play the game(not football)

  • Aussie in Switzerland February 10, 2019 at 3:17 pm

Alderwiereld, all the time, and gives it away again

    • Dan February 10, 2019 at 3:18 pm

  • Dan February 10, 2019 at 3:17 pm

    Take off trips not rose!

    • Al February 10, 2019 at 3:18 pm

    Draw looks likely

    • Aussie in Switzerland February 10, 2019 at 3:14 pm

      When we flogged Chelsea

  • Al February 10, 2019 at 3:12 pm

We give it back to them time and again and just sit back. A mix of cowardice and incompetence.

  • Limerick AL. February 10, 2019 at 3:11 pm

This remind me of our 3 -2 win at the Gooners a few years back. We do not have any cop on.

    • Aussie in Switzerland February 10, 2019 at 3:11 pm

We probably got a free kick or two that day

  • Lilywhite without the II February 10, 2019 at 3:10 pm

watching us most of this season is like watching a relegation game where we hold on tight for 3 points…

  • Fleeting February 10, 2019 at 3:10 pm

Will we learn from past matches? How to close one out? At least they keep it interesting.

  • Ribeye February 10, 2019 at 3:09 pm

Haha fuck knows how we’re third

  • Harry Hotspur February 10, 2019 at 3:08 pm

    We’re gonna win the league!

  • Lord Croker February 10, 2019 at 3:08 pm

Let’s see how they react. Where is the leader? Fakinel he’s in goal.
