‘He grafts and grafts’: One Tottenham player is training extra hard amid limited opportunities

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin joined the club during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has not had too many opportunities so far and he has started just once in the league. He will be hoping to play more often in the coming weeks, especially with the Euros coming up.

He will want to hold down a regular starting spot with Romano and he will need his sharpness back as well. It remains to be seen whether Ange Postecoglou is prepared to hand him more opportunities between now and the end of the season.

The player’s agent has now revealed to Fanatik that Dragusin is working extra hard in training so that he can earn more chances and prepare himself for the upcoming Euros.

His agent said: “He hasn’t gone out at all in London, to go out clubbing or anywhere. I don’t even know he’s gone out to eat twice. He doesn’t go out. We went out twice to a restaurant. He leaves at 9am, and comes back at 3-3.30pm, because he puts in an extra two hours of gym every day and an hour on the pitch. “It’s not exactly easy. It’s like having a job. He grafts and grafts. There’s also this pressure, he’s thinking about the national team, the Euros. He really wants to succeed. I think we can already say that he is one step in the winning boat.”

Radu Dragusin has the quality to start for Tottenham

Dragusin is currently behind the likes of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the pecking order. The only way he gets to start every week is if someone is injured. Alternatively, Postecoglou could switch to a back three and start all three defenders.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Dragusin was a key player for Genoa and he has impressed with his cameos in the Premier League. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old has the quality to thrive in English football.

Tottenham must handle his development carefully. Dragusin is a talented player with a big future and he cannot afford to sit on the bench every week.
