Portugeezers: Mourinho set to deliver Spurs’ double over West Ham for the first time since Villas-Boas did in 2012/13

By The Boy -

For all the pining for Poch that still persists online, the inability to do the double over West Ham causes me greater concern than discovering that the Argentinian has a barbecue in his garden with ‘Mauricio Pochettino, he’s magic you know’ engraved on it. There’s an all too depressing psychological gag to be made about his BBQ being the biggest winner’s medal football has ever seen, but some might view at as cruel, and be offended. Best not. Pffft…

For non-Millennial fans, West Ham is every bit as big a rival as Arsenal (and it would be remiss of me not to recommend Anthony Clavane’s Does Your Rabbi Know You’re Here? for the umpteenth time, at this juncture) and so this is another great opportunity for José to win Tottenham hearts and minds.

West Ham United are in plenty of trouble, right now, make no mistake. Only goal difference keeps them from the drop zone, and their form is identical to that of Norwich City, who are doomed. Indeed, the entire bottom three look incapable of mounting so much as a child’s bicycle with stabilizers, let alone a last-ditch fight against relegation.

Winning is in Mourinho’s blood, despite his detractors having rebranded the 54-year-old as a dinosaur; he won in his last post with Manchester United -when they were in a rare old mess. Winning against West Ham tomorrow night is unlikely to change the world, but it will provide a good many Spurs fans with an enormous sense of well-being. It will reinforce my belief we have a bona fide Portugeezer on the firm.

Spurs are not a smaller club. They are a huge club that sadly is run like a small 1

Imagine what he might have done with a chairman who liked trophies and not £ signs!

Cue John Cleese, “What did Poch ever do for us?”

Woodward is as disrespected by the Utd fans as Levy is by us, but for different reasons. Since Fergie left they have shelled out a significant amount, I’ve read £840m, so at least they are buying players. I know they have recouped some from sales, but a lot of the signings have been duds. I’m not convinced Pogba, after his cameo v us will remain committed and professional either but someone will pay big money for him. If Jose only wanted Ibra I’m surprised he has wasn’t more vocal about what went on. I knew he wanted Maguire, but his time had come by then. Since last summer it now looks like Utd do have a plan when it comes to transfers, something we definitely do not have.

I would have thought with all his experience he would have done a lot better ,our defence has got worse and the football is soo bland. Im hoping jose really has been intouch with all players and built up a new team ethic and positive vibe and things getting better. We need Le celso and nomdom running the midfield for a start …

Have you got a link to that story Steve? I’ve never heard of Mourinho having players forced on him anywhere.

Dinosaurs were impressive back in the day…. Maureen has to get results now for his own sake. Now hes joined a smaller club his win ratio is right down. Hes had his worse run of results with us… Il be judging the boss by the end of next season to be fair to him.

Apparently ibra was maureens only signing. That 400 mil was all Ed woodwards signings. Maureen wanted kane, bale rose walker toby dier amongst many others… Woodward got him the likes of fred, bailey, sanchez, lukaku.. Woodward doing what levy does…. Maureen also wanted maguire and was denied, then they went and bought him a year later for loads of money… Ed woodward now has spent 750 million odd, a ginormous amount of money.

Indeed. A heartbeat ago he was saying £400m was not enough for him to be able to compete with Guardiola and Klopp, and was proved right. Now he says he no longer needs even the initial £400m.

Yet under enic we see him scrambling just to avoid being pounded by the likes of Olly and Frank (minus Hazard). In fact he seems fearful of virtually every opponent.

Mourinho did spend £400m to be a contributing factor in Utd’s mess, let’s not ignore that. He even had the audacity to moan he wanted another centre half despite having 4, two of which he bought!. We don’t need to beat West Sham, we need to bury them and send that fraud Rice packing. I might have missed the memo on this lad, but I have seen very little to suggest he might be England’s next Makelele.
