Fabio Paratici working with Levy behind the scenes as Spurs eye move for attacker

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s former managing director, continues to wield influence behind the scenes in the club’s transfer activities, particularly with his expertise in the Italian football market.

Recent reports indicate that Paratici has played a role in suggesting AC Milan prospect Francesco Camarda to decision-makers at Tottenham.

According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, Tottenham have expressed interest in the teenage sensation, prompting them to dispatch scouts to assess his potential.

While Spurs are not the only club eyeing Camarda, with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Arsenal also showing interest, the young centre-forward has captured attention for his promising talent.

Camarda made headlines and history as the youngest Serie A player when he made his debut as a substitute against Fiorentina at just 15 years and 260 days old last November.

Milan had to secure special permission from the Italian Football Federation due to his age, as players under 16 are typically ineligible for Italian first-team action.

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the links to Camarda underscore Paratici’s ongoing influence within the club. Robinson highlights Tottenham’s recent successful signings of promising talents like Bentancur, Kulusevski, Vicario, and Van de Ven, emphasizing their impact on the first team.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson stated:

“I think we’ve seen Tottenham do it before, haven’t we? We’ve seen them buy young talent with potential.”

“I think with Bentancur, Kulusevski, Vicario, Van de Ven, that type of recruitment that impacts the first team immediately, they’ve been very successful recently and with the scouting network and the people they’ve got in Italy you obviously put your trust in them, a very young striker they’ll pay a decent fee for him.

“Whether he’ll come into the first-team squad initially or be loaned out is another thing. I think from a Spurs fan’s point of view, the stability and the strength of the squad is the most important thing.

“You look at Paratici’s involvement, he’s clearly still there in the background with Daniel Levy giving help and advice, but not working in an official capacity.

“I think that’s a relationship that works, if that’s another from Paratici’s stable then the recent recruitment you put your trust in those type of people and the players they want to bring in.”

Fabio Paratici is still working for Tottenham in an unofficial capacity

Paratici first joined Spurs in 2021 as the managing director of football. However, he was forced to step down in April last year due to allegations of financial misconduct during his time at Juventus.

As a result, he was handed a 30-month ban by the Italian Football Federation, which was later extended on a global capacity by FIFA.

But Daniel Levy has cleverly found a way around the ban to continue to utilise the Italain’s services.

The ban doesn’t prohibit consultancy duties, which is what Levy has taken advantage of. Paratici has been spotted at Spurs’ matches several times, often in a corporate box within the stadium.

This indicates his ongoing involvement with the club, albeit in a less formal capacity.
