Alan ‘elbows’ Shearer is the latest high profile pundit to relieve himself against the Mauricio Pochettino Memorial Shrine.

Again, you you can close your mind to what this **** has to say, as many of you opted to do with Paul Merson’s opinions. Be my guest.

However Shearer also makes valid points.

  • What is the point of working so hard to get into the Champions League if you weaken your side when faced with a game you have to win to stand any chance of progressing?
  • After the Monaco defeat Poch was complaining about his squad. This, despite spending nearly £70million on Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
  • The levels of Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have all dropped since last season despite improved contracts.

Not so much a Jason Bourne multi level Black Ops, but a ‘Black Oops’ starring Frank Spencer.

Did Pochettino really prioritise a Premier League game over a Champions League game in order that we would increase our chances of qualifying fro the Premier League?

That’s a serious question, by the way.

Mmmn, Mauricio, I think you’ve done a whoopsie.

Of the 4 buys only Wanyama has so far shone. To me these are all levy buys not Poch. It’s common knowledge that no manager/coach at THFC under levy has been allowed proper free rein on transfers – it’s not in the job description (unless the managers have asked for risky bargain bucket buys – but why would they?). levy probably has the transfer account under a zillion times encryption.
To me it’s starting to look like morale is beginning to flag in the squad. I reckon many players were over-used last season and this has affected them negatively this, especially with the tourney in France. Not enough rotation last season because of a lack of depth in the squad which allowed Leicester to bag a crazy title and arse to continue to call us Wengers bitch.
This season levy failed to strengthen the squad enough with proven quality, and because our competitors did, and also add the fact that they now know how we’re going to play, and in some cases are now doing it better, we have fallen badly behind.
In PL football last season might as well be a decade ago because things don’t just stand still. You either keep ahead or fall behind. We’ve fallen badly behind and I don’t see another chance to win the PL in the foreseeable future, nor top 4 for that matter.
Those fans expecting that it will all change when the new ground opens are in for a nasty surprise too, because the taking’s will mostly go to enic and the investors and very little will be spent on the team. Mark my word.
Be prepared for more of the same unless we get bought up. At the moment I’d take any buyer including arab oil shieks or Russky Oligarchs! I don’t give a fukc who buys us out, just no more of being the laughing stock of the PL thanks.

Ron, you constantly bleat on about Siggurdson – do you have any stats or informed analysis as to why he’s really good or what particular attributes that he possesses mean that he was worth keeping rather than shipping him off to a relegation contender?

            • Camus November 30, 2016 at 3:17 pm

Ah yes, the theory that an ‘average’ player only looks like a ‘good’ one in a relegation fodder team, playing against THE SAME TEAMS that we face. A favourite of mine. Works well when you consider that Danny Rose only looked good for a pony Sunderland team…

Here we go – ‘FA pulled all funding from child protection project’… This tallies with an hour-long interview I listened to the other day following a link put up by ‘Is Gazza Gonna Have a Crack?’. A police whistle-blower told a shocking tale about how he was pulled from investigating further when he was making serious inroads into investigating abuse more generally (not in football). He was threatened and forced out of the police force, essentially. That was around 2003 too. There has been and is a big cover-up around all this:-

Someone asked how Poch would fit Sissoko into Tottenham Hotspur. Probably like this:

O OK Trust Top Man – He’s So Shit

    He cannot be assimilated.

  • Gloster1861 November 30, 2016 at 11:27 am

Jenas believes Spurs will be very active in January to replace Sissysock and provide real competition for Eriksen and maybe Janssen too. I don’t know how close Jenas the Wonder Dog still is to the Lane, or whether he is just inventing all this.

    • Camus November 30, 2016 at 11:29 am

He’s inventing it. Categorically won’t happen.

      • Camus November 30, 2016 at 11:31 am

That isn’t pessimism. Lyall Thomas from Sky has already confirmed we won’t be active in January ‘because stadium’. Info from the club.

        • Gloster1861 November 30, 2016 at 11:36 am

I’d be surprised, but getting rid of Sissoko seems a priority if we can cut our losses. We still need a real right winger as we are lopsided going forward. Walker gets there but can’t do anything useful with the ball.

          • Caspurs♿️ November 30, 2016 at 11:46 am

I’ve just sent a glossy 3 paragraph dossier on Sossoso to potential suitors in China, if that fails, there’s always Ebay.

            • Camus November 30, 2016 at 11:50 am

Poch hasn’t bought a ‘right winger’ up to now, Glos, so I can’t see him starting now. He has N’Koudou for the left flank but doesn’t really play him (yet).

Left open for ‘right winger’/whinger pun fun…

  • Harry Hotspur November 30, 2016 at 11:06 am

Just in the relation the Shitssoko deal as it was mansplained in the papers:

He’s £30m over 5 years at a rate of £6m pa, UNLESS we sell him.

    1. He’s 27
    2. He’s shit
    3. We’ve been sexually interfered with
    4. See 1.&2.

So to be clear, we are well and truly stuck with this plinth. He’s NOT going suddenly only cost £6m, UNLESS we sell him.

If you are part of a Chinese foot ball consortium, please disregard this comment.

    • Citizen Smozz November 30, 2016 at 11:09 am

      😂
Ideally I’d like to argue with you and plead with you to encourage rather then have a go at one of our players……
But he makes John Lacy look like Beckenbauer
      Enough said!

    • Camus November 30, 2016 at 11:10 am

H, are you aware of any kind of payment clauses in the deal along the lines of “we only pay the full amount if he plays X number of games”? Just wondering if we might see a freeze-out job now and whether that’s got anything to do with saving some dollar or it’s literally a Poch/Sissoko falling-out.

    • Gloster1861 November 30, 2016 at 11:17 am

This is a weird deal. Newcastle must know we’ll suss out he’s a bag of puss sooner rather than later, so if we sell on this year they lose 24 million in prospective payments? They must get some form of compensation in that circumstance, surely?

    • SpurAndy November 30, 2016 at 11:39 am

Can’t see us selling him in his present state unless there’s a mahoosive discount which isn’t Levys MO. I could see him going on loan with rumours Juve and Inter are interested, although struggling to believe that.

A whole week to prepare for Swansea. If Poch can’t win convincingly something is going badly wrong. I think we are suffering because Eriksen and Dele are way off their best. Great shame that Marcus Edwards got injured just when he could have got playing time.

    • Camus November 30, 2016 at 9:39 am

A struggling Palace knocked 4 past them (yet still didn’t win). I hope we stuff them convincingly but am aware that that would usher in a host of “See? I told you we’re gonna win the league” proclamations.
Nonetheless, a win is what we need and a win, any kind of win, is the only acceptable result.
      Lads, it’s Swansea…

      • Real Fan? November 30, 2016 at 10:41 am

        • AntSpurs November 30, 2016 at 12:33 am

Why a no go DD ?

          • David Dillenberg November 30, 2016 at 12:35 am

Funny as I was a minority on here to have hoped Welbeck would have chosen Spurs as IMO he is more skilful than his critics suggest.

            • AntSpurs November 30, 2016 at 12:36 am

He’s quality and I don’t think he suits Arse

              When fit.

        • Gloster1861 November 30, 2016 at 12:33 am

Lukaku is channelling his inner Heskey and Welbeck is broken.

            I’d take Wellbeck too

CORIC resembles home grown Nick Barnby. Remember him?

  • Gloster1861 November 29, 2016 at 11:46 pm

Liverppol want Coric? And they’ll actually try to sign the lad. What kind of manager tries to sign quality players? When they could do what we do, and pretend that their youth ranks are bursting with invisible talent?

        • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 11:58 pm

perhaps laughable but our most naturally gifted player top form Dembele is nearest to Messi in terms of his ability to drift past players without the goals.

His lack of ability in most areas is shocking. Can’t trap a ball, pass it, change direction quickly, hold the ball or find decent space.

    • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 11:58 pm

Weve for Edwards and he is supposed to be blinding . I think it’s always tricky for a young. (Very Young) overseas player even if hemlocks top notch . It’s tough enough for seasoned players to make the transition to the PL let alone young boys away from their home . We should still work a lot smarter though for sures.

      • Gloster1861 November 30, 2016 at 12:03 am

The black room process was it called? That Mitchell was masterminding at Saints. Seems to still work for them but we appear to have nothing operational except Pleat’s nose.

  • Klaus Klinski November 29, 2016 at 11:36 pm

When it comes to Pooch v. Klopp it’s no contest, Klopps the real deal I’m afraid in so many departments, only a fool would be in denial of that…thankfully Maureen is a ghost of his former self and is still treading water at Manure, otherwise I think we will be lucky to challenge for the Ropey League next year…

    • SpurAndy November 30, 2016 at 1:19 pm

You could be right but we’ll never know unless they’re given the same resources.

  • UnkleTaff November 29, 2016 at 11:33 pm

This £6m per year deal for Sissoko … is it any different to paying by installments as most transfers appear to be done these days? In both cases if the player is sold the balance of the fee will still have to be paid, right? So whichever way you look at it we’ll still need to fork out £30m eventually, won’t we?

    • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:37 pm

I was under the impression we only paid that for as long as we kept him? Gettin bored of it now too!

      • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 11:40 pm

Did you think we sell him in 1 year for say 15m and only pay Newacatle 6m and keep the profit. No Spurs fan would have a problem with that

        • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:44 pm

No. Can’t remember the picture Harry painted now, but if say we sold after two years, I didn’t think we had to hand over a further 18 mil, do you know the answer then?

          • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 11:53 pm

As Taff said . We bought him for 30m and we pay in instalments . Doesn’t matter 5m for 6 years or even 1m for 30 years . Literally ever player who is bought is paid over the length of contract …this is for everyone not just us…so you but a player for 100m and you give him a 4yr contract , that means you pay 25m per year . If or when you sell that player you always pay back what’s remaining. So it’s just a way int Sissokos case to take the heat away from such an expensive purchase .

            • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:56 pm

No, no offence & cheers for the maths lesson, but I understand how paying in instalments works. Someone was def saying we didn’t pay the full amount unless he stayed for the full duration, a Levy masterstroke it was quoted as!

              • AntSpurs November 30, 2016 at 12:00 am

It wasn’t a maths lesson , just common sense doh

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 11:39 pm

      *single gunshot rings out*

      • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 11:41 pm

What a waste of a talent because had that deal gone through we could have been singing his praises by now and saved £30M on Sissy!

        • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 11:46 pm

Was never sure about Berahino . Although he would have helped, someone like Morata even Charlie Austin would have been able to keep the goals coming as a line srriker . Got us out of a hole at least

  • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:32 pm

Coutinho will be a massive miss for puds, that’ll work in our favour for sure.

    • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:19 pm

Did the first half vs chavs bore you? That was utter domination. Once Lamela’s back match fit with Alli & Eriksen back on form we’ll start scoring again. We we’re second top scorers last season & haven’t sold anyone of note if I recall?? We have an absolutely cracking defence, so losing Poch actually doesn’t worry me as much as some…

      • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 11:22 pm

Yes besides Kane and others occasionally chipping in where are the regular flood of goals coming from?

        • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:27 pm

Where did they come from last season? I recon you could take a look & hazard a guess!

          • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 11:32 pm

Admittedly looking leggier coming back from injury I fear that Kane will not be as prolific this season as he was last when his team mates were on the top of their game.

            • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:35 pm

Brain teaser, does Kane already have more prem goals than last season at this stage? Also, has he just had a near 8 week rest period??

      • Frontwheel 2 November 29, 2016 at 10:11 pm

we’ll see how they cope, another few injuries and I think they would struggle as much as we have.

        • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 10:13 pm

Yip, cuntinho, fuckinho, clininho . For sures they’d be fucked

    • UnkleTaff November 29, 2016 at 11:30 pm

So that’ll be six, probably seven and possibly eight games (only two of which look particularly troublesome). If they’re serious title contenders that shouldn’t really be an issue for them.

  • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 9:44 pm

Poch made a w*nk decision re CL, called it as soon as I saw the teamsheet, stoopid stoopid. He shouldn’t get away without critisism for those actions, it’s not the first time it’s happened (he has form) & the only way he’ll understand the fans frustrations is to make sure our voices are heard. Calling for his head isn’t the answer either. We all wanted cover for Dier, & what we’ve ended up with is an improvement. Harry, we knew we needed cover, but there’s no point in improving where we don’t need it. VJ’s got a decent record already at international level, lets see how he adjusts & judge him towards the end of the campaign (still only 22). Kudos looks (from his brief spells to date) to be an improvement on ‘N’Jie, so we’ve upgraded NJ to NK. As for Sissoko, who was he supposed to be an upgrade for? No one as far as I’m aware?? It doesn’t help that we’re playing him in his wrong position either. Overall the squad has improved in depth, but only marginally on the starting 11. We’ve had bad form & injuries, yet havent dropped any points on this time last year, so it could be a lot worse, all things considered. We finally have every player back from injury, our bench now looks like:

Vorm, Tripps, Davies, Dier, Son, Janssen, Sissoko, Wimmer & Kudos.

I’d say that bench looks a lot stronger than last season’s?!!

We could do with one pearl of a midfielder, but that’s otherwise a fairly complete & balanced squad. Sissoko cost 6 mil per season, so we can knock 24 mil off the 70, & we arrive at 46 mil spent. Wanyama should have been closer to 25 mil, not 12. Jan & NK seem fairly priced imo, & Sissoko will be f*cked off out the door if he don’t pull his finger out sharpish. Funny how it’s 30 mil down the pan when it suits, & 6 mil a season is forgotten.

All eyes on Poch from here on in, he has a decent side which he’s put together, now he has to make it work.

    • anotherwisemonkey November 29, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Some good points here. Glass half full, sir.

    • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Will he make it work and hang about for long if deprived of transfer funds plus losing the likes of Lloris, Kane and Verts should they quit.

    • AntSpurs November 29, 2016 at 9:58 pm

The decision may have stoopid with hindsight , it may have come off but it it is still 30m for Sissoko . Not 6m a year . Who made this call ? and was this a Poch failing/decision. I looked at Sissokos highlight/lowlight reel and they are predominantly him making a turn and getting tackled , having a bursting run and getting tackled, taking on 1 or 2 and yes same again . Lots of misplaced paces and the odd cracking goal . If Poch has seen something in this which can be fine tuned then he’s def a bloody genius , If not then who’s idea was it ?

      • McG ⚽⚽ November 29, 2016 at 11:00 pm

Well, what’s this 6 mil a season for as long as we keep him then?

        • Antspurs November 29, 2016 at 11:02 pm

If/when we sell we still pay back 30

  • grittyspur November 29, 2016 at 9:37 pm

Guess its time to return to the holodeck, Captain!

  • Frontwheel 2 November 29, 2016 at 9:20 pm

Brief interjection,The day I give 2 shits about what that cunt Shearer says,is the day I’ll nail my nuts to Lahdidahs table.

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 9:20 pm

      But he’s right.

  • TopOfThePochs November 29, 2016 at 9:14 pm

I think these comments are possibly the only thing ive heard Shearer spew out that are correct.
We have splurged £70M on players that dont inprove our first team. Key players from last year also looked overworked and mentally drained and bereft of ideas.

    • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:17 pm

Sadly we don’t posess any world class players having repeatedly failed to replace Bale and Modric respectively.

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 9:19 pm

      A voice of sanity.

      Thank you.

£70m up the wall and the best the Flat Earthers can give us is some incomprehensible nonsense about ‘improving, maybe’.

      • Beg2Differ November 29, 2016 at 9:30 pm

        Toby?

And precisely how many world class players have we had since Gazza?

Klinsmann, Berba, Bale, Modric, VDV perhaps and if you want to throw in Carrick, be my guest.

Which chairman gave us all but one of those?

        • Lilywhite without the "II" November 29, 2016 at 9:35 pm

But he never did he, they weren’t world class when they joined us other than the one NOT provided by Levy..

        • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:36 pm

I take issue over Berba, Carrick and VDV. They were very good but not world class players.

          • Beg2Differ November 29, 2016 at 9:39 pm

Fine by me, you’ve just proved how difficult it is to replace the likes of Bale and Modric, but just for the sport of it, who would you have bought (realistic targets only please – Ronaldo and Messi are never likely to sign for us.

            • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Well given that we reprortedly could have signed AGUERO when he was at Ajax, thats one for starters!!

              • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:44 pm

                or was it Suarez?

                • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:45 pm

                  Correction: It was Suarez

                  • MysteriousStranger November 29, 2016 at 9:49 pm

Sure as hell wasn’t Aguero, who Citeh bought from Atletico Madrid.

In fact, I may change your name to Cherry Pricker.

  • Calebray November 29, 2016 at 9:02 pm

Shearer can get fucked. What really pisses me off is he is right.
Let’s have a proper go at a pot eh??
Giving us glimpses of kids who aren’t kids or good enough might make the season ticket list longer but I was born in 1976. I’m fucking starving here.
Too much fannying around over a few quid costs us far too dearly far too often. It might of lost us a manager too…..

  • anotherwisemonkey November 29, 2016 at 9:00 pm

Take a look at the table after match day 13 last season, below.

Spurs were fifth, with 6 games won, 6 drawn and 1 lost. An identical record, position and points tally to now.

Our defence this season is slightly better, with one less goal conceded, despite the loss of Toby. Unsurprisingly, given we’ve been without Kane, our attack is 5 goals worse off.

I agree that since the City result it’s been very frustrating supporting the team. However, given that our record matches last season’s so closely, I’m not giving up yet on the idea we can match or even better last season’s showing. Thoughts?

    • David Dillenberg November 29, 2016 at 9:12 pm

Brief interjection: AWM Our record may be similiar but thats where the similiarity ends. The difference between this season and last season is that our closest rivals were weaker. This season they are stronger, have greater strength in depth plus Liverpool (my tip for the title) added to the mix makes it very difficult but not impossible to finish in the top 4.

      • anotherwisemonkey November 29, 2016 at 9:26 pm

Wait a minute, are you saying you don’t #believe that we are #together ? 😉

In all serious, though, fair point.

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 9:18 pm

@ANWM Mate, I hate to urinate on your cornflakes but I am beyond bored with stats and other guff that doesn’t acknowledge the problems, which are staring us in the face.

Forget Man City, it was atypical. It really was…

  • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 8:58 pm

    Beg2Differ

Poch realised three games into our campaign that we had no chance of winning the CL, and therefore our only real chance of qualifying again next season was via a top 4 spot. What’ so difficult to understand about that?

    ARSEHOLE alert

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 29, 2016 at 8:52 pm

Having witnessed levy in the transfer market and the blood/stone situations he creates can you imagine what actually selling the club will be like.? Fuuuuuuuuuuckin Ayda…..

  • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 8:42 pm

TIP: If you’re going to ‘pull me up on something’ you’ll at least be perceived as making a grasp for credibility if you reply to me.

    • Caspurs♿️ November 29, 2016 at 8:48 pm

As handsome as you are H, i’m honestly not trying to pull you, unless you’re really the lady in the Trivago adds, are you?

    • caveman November 29, 2016 at 8:54 pm

H, I believe ‘OtS’ to be correct in suggesting that qualification will be more important to Levy than a trophy. It will fill Wembley and get the ball rolling for getting 61,000 fans into the new stadium. I concur with your comments that a trophy would be what the fans want, but that’s not Levy’s agenda. That’s the reason I commented about your reply to him as I thought he made a reasonable call.

      • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 9:09 pm

        Oh dear…

‘Ball rolling’ – can you be specific as to what this means in any tangible sense?

Then we’ll pull the guts out if the rest of the coward’s nonsense.

  • Andreas November 29, 2016 at 8:15 pm

Sorry to say but I don’t think we will win anything for years unless enic sell up.
Whoever buys Spurs will do so to pump money into the club, make it a major player like city’s owners have.I think Levy is already advertising us as a big club, and do at Wembley 85,000 fans is one way of saying look at our fanbase, as well as making money for the club.
Hopefully our new owners will blow cheatski out of the water ,scum of a football club, Nobody pays 1billion pounds for a laugh. The new owners will have ambitions, and if city and cheatski can do it so can we.Fingers crossed

    • Horndog 😎 November 29, 2016 at 8:19 pm

1 billion will be low, DL and Joe will want at least double that when the time comes. This is their home run. Don’t know if Joe will be around to round the bases but greedy little Dan will get his cut.

So you’re a completely unreliable witness.

“I believe his brief is top 4, becomme a regular CL team above all else, winning things may come after regular income has increased by filling the new ground by regular CL matches.”

Anyone wanting to read this crud is on the wrong URL.

We blew the CL in order to focus on the PL, in order to achieve CL.

          And we get…

“I believe his brief is top 4, becomme a regular CL team above all else, winning things may come after regular income has increased by filling the new ground by regular CL matches.”

          Reasonable or bland piffle?

  • Spurs nut D November 29, 2016 at 7:19 pm

Sorry but this is Shearer who since retiring took a job on tv .Hardly high pressure .If we finish top four this season is it a success or is it a failure .Remember every other club in the top 5 will have vastly bigger budgets than us and will have a bigger profile due to regularly playing champions league .

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2016 at 7:40 pm

      What does that actually mean?

I’m not being cute here, but you sound like you ‘follow’ Spurs like they’re some shares your distant aunt owns.

      • Spurs nut D November 30, 2016 at 12:54 am

No what im saying is we have no right to be as high as we are .We are a small club with a small stadium who having won fa cups and a very long time ago the league we believe the fans that we can buy anyone .To get a player to come to us we have to sell them the fact we have never won the premiership, the champiob league but we are still a great club .What top player whats to come to us when you put it like that .Money wise Chelsea ,Man city ,Arsenal ,Man utd and Liverpool all earn over between 150-200 million a year more than us .Other than Liverpool who lets face it have a bigger history than us all the others play every year in chamopns league or win it or win the premiership .We want more but do we really deserve more .Have we a right to expect to win the league or the champions league .I never expected us to win either but i do want us to play in them but i fully expect us to finish top four this year .Given the new stadium costs i call that a win .We have bought some bad players but as i said before every club does .I feel we are three quality players away from a shot at the league this year .Will we get them and will they preform if we do who knows .I just don’t see the gloom league wise that all area calling .The champions league was a complete failure yes but its the stadium and the brief he (poch) is working under and i just don’t see another manager out there who will be able to do it any different with this in mind .

        • Harry Hotspur November 30, 2016 at 10:57 am

There is NO manager in existence that can be successful under Levy.
