Levy Braced For A £4M+ Financial Hit

The two NFL games which our illustrious leader managed to negotiate have been shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Daily Mail cites ENIC as taking a £4million hit, however, all the associated business that would have come with each jamboree would probably net a whole lot more.

Tottenham’s debt of £600+ isn’t anything for fans to be overly concerned with, its generational nature means that the empire won’t come tumbling down in a hurry.

The inability of our American friends to fly to play in London raises another issue that will hurt Spurs financially, namely preseason friendlies. Aeroplanes, boats and trains are all incubating machines, endlessly pushing recycled air around. Who in their right mind would step aboard any of them until a proven vaccine was commonly available?

The impact of these ‘few months’ of disruption cannot possibly be underestimated. On a money footing, we’re in for comparatively brutal times.

What I most object to about Levy is his insistence of the constant dismantling of any team or on pitch progress every few years. You have to evolve the team and be actively trying to replenish the squad, keep it fresh and replace ageing players etc and remain competitive.

Levy likes a decline on the pitch because it helps him control the expectations of the fans. He can blame the management and start again when it’s his policies that undermined the whole thing in the first place.

When we won our only trophy under Levy 12 years ago he went and sold off the best players rather than build on it. It was as if he thought, ‘ok, the fans have a trophy to keep them happy for 10 years, it’s the perfect opportunity to cash in and keep spending down’.

To an extent the same happened under Poch, ok no trophies but constant Champions League participation over several years was more than enough for Austerity FC. Back to starting to ‘build for the future’ for about the sixth time since ENIC bought in.

It’s a joke and anyone not complaining about this is basically thick as $hit…

I heard about that but didn’t see it🤣🤣🤣🤣 ffs he built the whole thing on being prepared for the worst. Well here’s the worst. And we are gonna be hit worse than everyone else. If you believe it. And the fairies are at the bottom of the garden 🙄

Enic taking a 4 million hit is around 7 weeks of levys wage.. And thats after his recent 20 per cent reduction.. If the man does manage to bankrupt or ruin the club, whilst walking away a billionaire (confirmed this year by forbes) then levys probably best of moving to the bahamas..

The whole ‘multi entertainment venue’ business plan for the stadium is clearly about 15 years old. It’s out of date, London has countless stadiums and arenas to compete with for business and the live music industry is dwindling as acts that can fill stadiums are becoming more scarce by the year.

Bands like Guns n Roses won’t be playing forever, Springsteen sold out the Emirates a few years ago, the guy is in his 70’s now. Apart from NFL with Wembley as the main rival the stadium has to compete with more compact arenas for music in London and countless other stadiums. Stratford has better connections into central London for example. I can see Levy wanting to build a Westfield in North Tottenham too, shop retail is as threatened by the future as stadiums for entertainment. It’s not a future proof plan, it’s vulnerable…

Sorry to be so negative but with ENIC about there’s £uck all to be excited about… 😂

😆 The roaring success of nfl in england.. As if it was ever going to happen.. It would never be allowed in our schools or youth clubs because of health and safety. I have two english friends who i know who play it (both big men but average sportsmen, neither played good rugby) yet they made the UK squad!.. I’m still scratching my head over this masterplan.

Our whole modus operandi has just been torpedoed, the whole point of the stadium was to give us the match day and commercial revenue to compete with the big boys, now that’s gone. We’re in austerity mode now.

Does Levy want it abandoned? I keep hearing the “top 6” are hell bent on finishing.

Honestly I don’t know what I’d prefer. It’d be nice to have some footy to watch i guess, but then watching games with no atmosphere will be like watching a training session. We have nothing to lose by continuing the season, given our best players will be fit again and as it stands we will miss out on CL and EL. It’s debateable whether we’d want to be in the EL but at least it’s a trophy we could potentially win.

Regular (Premier League) bonuses at Spurs are typically worth about £20k a week to a player bang in form.

It’s being suggested levy could actually end up saving money if the season is voided, especially relative to other clubs. That’s because so large a portion of players’ wages at spurs is made up of performance-related bonuses and add-ons. Apparently that is the main reason why he wants the season abandoned, along with the fact top 4 is highly unlikely.

Yes we are. We’ll lose all our match day rev for the season and some commercial too.

The same is true for every club of course, but we will suffer comparatively more than other teams as our match day rev is potentially greater than the other clubs.

Arsenal will also suffer greatly. They have a bigger wage bill, generate less revenue than us and they ran at a loss last season.

Transfers will be very very difficult this summer – for everyone. Best make the most of those freebies!
