Have A Look At Eriksen’s Crack

Have A Look At Eriksen’s Crack

Ten years on from Paul Gascoigne’s legendary free-kick for Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final against bitter rivals, Arsenal, Christian Eriksen has tried his hand at replicating the famous strike for BT Sport’s #GoalsRecreated series.

“Is Gascoigne going to have a crack? He is you know!”
On this day in 1991, Tottenham Hotspur’s Gazza left a title-winning Arsenal team in the FA Cup semi-finals absolutely bewildered.

Fans are being encouraged to emulate their stars and recreate goals by tagging their efforts with #GoalsRecreated. BT Sport’s favourite goal from across the whole of this season, as picked by its panel of judges, will win two tickets to this year’s UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff.

Eriksen and co. take on Chelsea in next week’s semi-finals before Arsenal face Manchester City at Wembley Stadium live on BT Sport 1 from 2:30pm on Sunday.

Quotes from Poch in The Guardian.
“We must make Wembley our home because next season it is sure we will play there,” said Pochettino. “The last game we played there, against Gent, was unlucky because Dele Alli was sent off and we dominated. That was the moment to realise we can play in the same way that we play at White Hart Lane, and this is a good example we need to work on, knowing that feeling.”

    • Thehughtonslice April 17, 2017 at 1:20 pm

Can we mark the Wembley pitch to our liking? bearing in mind all grounds have different sized pitches could we not mark up the pitch exactly the same size as WHL? Or am I being thick?

      • spursy April 17, 2017 at 1:41 pm

Just pointing out that our manager has said publicly, “next season it is sure we will play there” as there has been some thoughts on this here blog about whether the Wembley move will happen. As to whether you’re thick, I do’t know you so I couldn’t possibly comment 😉

Some on here would be happy if we get Barkley. I am not one of those and I hope we don’t go near him. I like Zaha and the Gray kid from the PL

    • The Great White Hope April 17, 2017 at 12:55 pm

Barkley looks overweight to me, not sure how he would cope with Poch’s physical regime, on the flip side he commits well and has the attitude of a real winner, if Poch wants him i’m happy.

    • UnkleTaff April 17, 2017 at 12:59 pm

As much as I’d like to see us recruit Barkley I can’t see us agreeing a reasonable fee with Everton for him … particularly if the rumours that Utd are in for him turn out to be true.

Zaha I think will join us over the summer. And he won’t come cheap which makes a Barkley signing even more unlikely.

He can hit a good corner and free kick but he can have a confidence problem. He is getting better generally but we need to see the best of him in this stretch

If Chelsea fail to win both their next two games against Southampton and Everton (an entirely plausible secenario) and we beat Palace, then victory over Arsenal would achieve two things:

    1) It would mean that St Totteringham’s Day would not take place this year

    and, infinitely more importantly,

    2) It would send us to the top of the table.

    • gloster1861 April 17, 2017 at 11:29 am

It would be an entirely fitting send off for the old ground’s final NLD.

  • gloster1861 April 17, 2017 at 11:18 am

The most amazing thing about tonight’s Gooner game …Is that it’s an irrelevance to Spurs. We are so much better than that lot down the road, the results is just of minor interest.

        • caveman April 17, 2017 at 11:28 am

That’s what they’re saying about West Ham.

    • gloster1861 April 17, 2017 at 11:20 am

It was a great kick, if Seaman had got his hands on the ball he would still have been dragged into the back of the net. So much power it looks as if it was accelerating not slowing.

  • The Great White Hope April 17, 2017 at 10:55 am

Seems to me that Conte is just getting his excuses in early, sure he can tell everyone, “Look i told you last week Tottenham are the best team in the PL by a Country mile, we were lucky to escape with a 3-0 drubbing in the Cup Semi-Final, i have no doubt they will now go on to Win it, this is the way football should be played, thankfully we have a 4 point advantage in the PL but we need to win every remaining game.”

Would love the Arse to lose tonight but my only fear is that losing to Boro would definitely be the end of Auntie. I’d like to see another few years of Arse TV mayhem before then so a boring scoreless draw might be best.

I was there, ripped a brand new pair of white jeans on the wooden seats they had at the old Wembley, gutted cos I thought they were well trendy as a kid!

The pandemonium after that free kick went in is my abiding memory, seem to remember being shielded from some gutted Gooners on the way out, moaning that we were a “two man team”, a one man team I can understand but a two man team? Hilarious, they’re moaning again!!

  • caveman April 17, 2017 at 8:52 am

Listening to Conte’s interview where he plays the humble manager saying Spurs are the best team in the Premiership, it’s all funking mind games. It’s not going to be a submissive Cheatski on Saturday, Spurs will have to be at their very best but they will be. Every media outlet is saying Conte is being genuine, but don’t believe a word of it, it’s mind games.

    • East Stand April 17, 2017 at 9:18 am

He’s Italian, life is about contradictions and expressing what you need to in order to get by, you bet it’s mind games.
