“He doesn’t look happy” – Former scout makes concerning claim about Tottenham star

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes James Maddison is not happy with his situation at Tottenham at the moment.

Maddison, who joined Tottenham from Leicester City last summer in a high-profile £40 million transfer, initially made a significant impact.

He swiftly established himself as a key creative force in Ange’s side, contributing with three goals and five assists in his first 11 games.

However, a setback in November, when he sustained an injury against Chelsea, sidelined him until late January.

Since his return, Maddison has struggled to replicate his earlier form. With just one goal and two assists in 13 games, his performances have fallen short of expectations.

After a disappointing display against Arsenal, Maddison was dropped to the bench for the subsequent game against Chelsea.

He came off the bench against the Blues but continued to make any significant impact.

Former Tottenham believes James Maddison is unhappy

King believes that Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, will reinstate Maddison into the starting XI for the upcoming fixture against Liverpool.

However, he raised doubts about whether Maddison would be able to showcase his quality against Jurgen Klopp’s side or continue his recent struggles. Moreover, King suggested that the player appears unhappy with his current situation.

Speaking to Tottenham News, he said:

“There has been so much uncertainty in midfield across the last three games.”

“I think Ange Postecoglou will bring Maddison back in against Liverpool because he does have quality and Spurs need some quality.

“The only question is will Maddison show that quality, or will he continue to play as he has done across the last few matches, because at the moment he doesn’t look happy.”

Spurs are currently trailing Aston Villa by 7 points and although they have two games in hand, it will not be easy for Ange to get a result against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
