Fabrizio Romano: Vinícius Loan Agreed But No Milik Deal As Yet

By The Boy -

Milanese sports journalist Fabrizio Romanao believes (as do many other sources this morning, it would appear) that Spurs have finally managed to thrash out a deal for Benfica striker Carlos Vinícius. This will most likely be a loan deal with an option to buy included.

Vinícus’ addition makes this a fine haul for José Mourinho, who so far has brought in Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, plus Joe Hart.

The 25-year-old, as with Sergio Regulión is a player that has struggled to find a secure home, despite having frequently demonstrated the sort of talent that would be worth backing.

I take a view that that Carlos will be mire than a ‘back up’ player to Harry Kane, and used greater more invention by Mourinho, which allow Spurs to be more successful and more interesting to watch. All the other permutations involving Dele and Sonny and Lucas etc have all been explored, and they do not work.

Are we allowed to loan two players from the same team at the same time.We already have a deal with Benfica for Gedson Fernandes.Aston Villa wanted Barkley & LoftusCheek but had to pick only one loan deal ?

True there seems to be more success stories from that league than the French one for example.

It’s always difficult to tell. Soldado should have worked out for us – he scored plenty in La Liga which is a top tier league. Van Nistelrooy only played in the Dutch league and he wasn’t bad.

Ah I see. It a fair point. I’m guessing the club must be confident over this.

I’m talking purely about being allowed to work (play) for tottenham.

My understanding is that for a work permit there is a fairly murky section in the application which gives credit for “exceptional talent” or something like that.
High transfer fees have been stated to prove exceptional talent. So having a zero transfer fee – coupled with zero caps for Brazil – I just don’t see how he is let into the UK.
Hopefully BigStew is right and he picks up a Portuguese passport at the departure hall.

If he’s Mou’s first choice then that’s good enough for me, at least he doesn’t have two dodgy knees like Milik, only we’ve got enough problems in our attacking players already – the treatment bench would have filled up. Okay the Portuguese league is not the best but then that gets reflected in the possible purchase price, as least with a loan we won’t get egg on our faces if he turns into Soldadud or Pantssen.
I’m just relieved that we’ll have another striker on our books that can hold up the ball and be a target man, which nobody else currently can, and most of allk Kane finally has competition and can be rested..
It’s worth noting that Wolves have a lot of players that came from that league and they ain’t half not bad.

This looks like a brilliant deal to me, I love the loan with option to buy arrangement. It means the player still has to work hard for their contract when they get here. If he doesn’t look that good, simple we don’t have to buy. It worked a treat with Lo Celso.

Possibly a loan deal for two years being reported elsewhere.

Only ( 17 non homegrown ) players allowed in the Europa League. Lloris.Dier.Alderweirld.Sanchez.Davies.Reguilon.Aurier.LoCelso.Ndombele.Son. Sissoko.Lamela.Bergwijn.Hojbjerg.Moura. Possibly Vinicius ? & one other? Maybe a centrehalf. Or Gedson? (Homegrown 8 ) :Doherty.Winks.Kane.Dele.Tanganga.Bale.Hart.Sessegnon or White.

Why does zero money make a difference? Surely it’s a good thing that we get to “try before we buy”? Saving money on this position allows us to spend in other areas.

In José we (should) trust.
He’s said to have been his 1st choice?

Like most Brazilian footballers, (special cases, seemingly?) guess he’ll be eligible for a Portuguese passport?
Probably helps that he’s been resident there for 2/3yrs & has 2 kids with his girlfriend.

Not overwhelmed tbh but if Jose is happy thats what matters right now….finally a striker…what’s interesting now of course is finally some players won’t even make the bench as we have a “squad”…!
