Danny Rose Leaking To The Sun, Again?

By The Boy -

Hot on the heels of reports of a training ground bust up at Hotspur Way, now we are treated to another leak, this one warning fans that all is not well in Mourinho World.

The charge sheet against the club, or rather José specifically – makes for curious reading – when one considers this is the methodology of one of the planet’s most successful managers that is being attacked.

Just who are these “many players” referenced? Could be the reinvigorated Toby Alderweireld, who was clearly eager to break the contract extension deadlock, only once Pochettino had left the building?

Was it Dele Alli that was leading the complaints about “flick-ons”?

Regular readers will know that I had serious concerns about the energy levels of our players under Poch, and frequently made the observation that some players looked as if they had left some of their best moves on the training pitches.

Could the source for Kidd’s piece be Danny Rose, a player we know that has Kidd’s number in his phone (see a few examples below)?

In my opinion, this article deliberately feeds upon the anxieties of those still coming to terms with the loss of their emotional investment in Mauricio, and those suspicious of Mourinho.

Whoever did share their thoughts here, hasn’t served to help the team or the club, They also might consider how they are in a position to criticize anyone in football, given that their own allergy to winner’s medals.

They won 3 trophy’s under his stewardship. And if you think he’s responsible for our current form clearly football isn’t your game.

I can’t claim to have an earthly as to the veracity of any story about the goings on in the dressing room, but given the apparent state of chelski & manure’s dressing rooms during Maureen’s final days there, why anyone would feel that a similar thing happening at Spurs is unlikely is beyond my comprehension. If there’s any truth is this story, surely, surprising, would be the last thing it is.

Wouldn’t take this seriously, certain people would love to destabilise Spurs and nobble Mourinho before he’s got started. If those senior players had won anything I’d pay attention. Seen a Steve Nicol piece trailed on YouTube from ESPN along similar lines, ie ” Has Mourinho lost the dressing room”?
Codswallop, he hasn’t even got started. Do you seriously think any of these ex players especially Liverpool wish Tottenham well. FFS Sourness and RedknappyJnr never have a good word to say about us, and both them played for us.

Like Kyle Walker the final ball has always been his let down, a good player would overcome that basic flaw in his game and looking at his last outing he still hasn’t done that.

Under Poch they were knackered, under Jose they’re bored. Blah, blah blah…

The main question is, why aren’t they playing way they were over 18 months ago?

My theory is that Rose actually represents the feeling that’s grown within the group of players that there is no desire by the owners to go to greater heights on the pitch.

The timeline of the side’s drop in form is pretty much in line with the Sissoko, Aurier and then Moura transfers and the year of signing nobody that followed.

Blame the players all you like, blame the managers all you like. The players aren’t that stupid, they know Levy’s intentions and they’re bored with going nowhere fast.

Perhaps Jose’s methods do seem archaic compared to Pep/Klopp/Poch. The fact is anything negative is amplified when the people at the top of the club aren’t helping the situation.

Jose was brought into fix something that Poch couldn’t, and that can only be fixed with commitment from the owners to the first team. It’s no wonder it’s not working this season despite whoever the coach is.

The club is rotten with the culture of losing trickling down from the boardroom for the last 20 years…

you might need to give your own head a wobble pal. Because it clearly wasn’t watching what happened at Utd, and it doesn’t seem to have been watching the last 2 months either

From the horses mouth of one of our players I can tell you first hand that the players under Poch were knackered come Sat game day’s.

It’s not a figment of anyone’s imagination that the players look and are knackered

Two words. Dead team. Only a fool would expect this team to play a high high intensity style with these dead lot that don’t respect each other. We’re lucky we’ve got enough in us still to chase the bloody long balls. Were we a formula one car not even Lewis could get this old banger team far from last.

You are correct. I like you I’m sure have enjoyed watching the ‘progressive, technical’ football The Athletic promised us Sacramento would bring when we were pumping long balls vs Utd and Chelsea (*when we had a fit Kane) and in the footballing dystopia that was the Southampton game and large swathes of the Wolves/ Watford/ Liverpool/ Middlesbrough/ Norwich/ Brighton (need i go on…)

Danny’s comments would be easier to disregard if we weren’t seeing the car crash play out in real time every match

It’s all just conjecture though Charles, I have no idea what Danny’s state of mind is, I’m just saying I can imagine none of this helps a player perform at the top level – you see more than ever the massively technically/ physically demanding Premier League leaves people behind who are not quite with it for whatever reason (Exhibit B – Eric Dier, EXHIBIT C – Victor Wanyama). And you would be amazed how backward top level sport is at dealing with these sorts of issues and assessing players on all sorts of levels.

And if you thought Danny Rose has never been good enough, then, well… good luck.

The players (they know who they are) know that Jose deep down don’t trust them and doesn’t have much respect for them coz of the way they behaved (under contract as so called professionals) towards his mate poch and TOTTENHAM Hotspur. Were it not for contracts those “who know who they are” woulda been sacked. Clear’em all out Jose. Let’s start doing this thing up.

Well we could say what the blazes is he doing playing when he is not mentally up to it? For the same reasons Parrot is denied a place in the first team because ‘he’s not ready’ which must mean mentally not ready because he’s so young (immature).

For me, he has never been good enough.

I see it the same way. We forget how good he and Walker were when we were in the top 4 consistently, playing attractive football.

The long ball tactics I would accept ball playing footballers wouldn’t like, you know the ones who got us into the CL 4 years in a row. Perhaps he shouldn’t be discussing Tanguey with the press.
And the decision to pass on Max Aarons to get a more physical player is pure JM and maybe that is what is needed.
As an aside Pochettino rescued Toby’s career from the wilderness. He quite rightly agitated for recognition of his and the teams achievements by an improved contract. Levy refused and allowed several contracts to run down, giving the squad unhappy players. Poch obviously had to make it clear that those who refused contract extensions were not part of the future. Poch said he was a coach and not a manager when it came to recruitment/transfers. Extending a slowing once top player is hardly a positive sign, we’ve still got Verts, Dier, Rose, Eriksen etc Are they all happy with the club and the manager?
Leaks like this don’t happen at a top club.

I’d say that you could level many things at Danny but not giving an F is not one of them, if anything he cares too much. Clearly not being in a great place mentally doesn’t help when it comes to performing your best at the top level of a massively demanding sport

That’s a very fair analysis of the situation and I was aware of most of those things but not thought about them to connect them! How pathetic a club must be (spurs till i die) if your chairman is capable of causing such unrest then just blames the manager! I also feel levy is insisting on certain players playing hence poch’s call me coach before he was sacked. Fuck I hate enic and would like them to politely leave now please

Where do we start. If we are taking as evidence Danny’s obvious leaks to the media, then you also have to consider the numerous times the club have briefed to the media about him being unwanted/ about to leave etc over the last few years – hardly conducive to creating a stable atmosphere for someone who is struggling with their mental health. Then you have leaving him off the pre season tour with a public statement to that effect. Then you have sending him to Watford against his wishes in the last minutes of the transfer window, a day or so before he was required to play for us again. I hardly even need to mention our chairman’s contract lowballing as backdrop to this – at the time of the first infamous Sun interview you had a player who was the outstanding left-back in the country being paid a fraction of what vastly inferior players were on, denied the opportunity to win things or be paid properly at another club and it had just come out that their chairman was the best paid chairman in the league. I’m certainly not saying Rose is blameless, but if I was a player at this club over this period under this chairman I would also have been tempted to speak out. It all amounts to a stand-off between Rose and Levy, I see Rose’s desire to see out his contract as a personal ‘F you’ to Levy in terms of denying Spurs a transfer fee

Don’t always agree with assessments here but this would seem to be on to something. Ndombele has not had a bust up just a statement of fitness issues being an issue, Jose seems to rate him though and keeps putting him in the team whenever he’s fit. Why would you not be frustrated that one of your first names on the team sheet keeps picking up knocks?

Yes clearly Danny leaking, but as always difficult to disagree with any of the points he made.

It is possible for all of the following to be true at the same time

1) Danny Rose needs to stop leaking to the newspapers, and ideally find a new club.

2) Pochettino had to go, because his relationship with our numpty chairman had run its course.

3) Jose is yesterday’s man, his methods (both tactical and man management) don’t work in today’s game, and was a preposterous choice by our numpty chairman given his tactics are completely at odds with a style our players have been working with/ signed to play in for 5 yrs. TBH Dele has looked as annoyed with the tactics – or lack of them – as anyone over the last few weeks.

4) Our numpty chairman is not backing Jose Mourinho as he should

5) The club has treated Danny Rose – a player who has had mental health problems – appallingly.

CONCLUSION – As always all roads lead here; Daniel Levy is really bad at his job.

If any of the players don’t like it, then fuck off. It doesn’t matter who it is. Mourinho is a winner and they need to get their collective heads out of their arses and pull together as a team. They won’t be complaining when they’re starting to get a collection of winners medals.

Great detective work! I must admit, I was disappointed to read these stories and then immediately wondered whether Rose had something to do with it. As far as I’m concerned here’s all the evidence you need. We just need to get rid of the poisonous elements within the club and Rose has most certainly turned into one. He used to be a favourite of mine. Shame.
Get on with your life Danny and get that chip off your shoulder.
