3 dead 14 wounded.

A comfortable enough home Europa League win slowly morphed into a bad day at the Grand National. Tarpaulins up and…bang! 3 of our players arrived at White Hart Lane as primo athletes and left as people qualifying for sick pay.

Dembele should be okay. He felt a lot of pain when he was brought down, but now he’s steady. Younes felt muscle tightness in his adductor and we decided to take him off. He was struggling but he didn’t rupture anything.

“We have to be a little bit more careful with Danny Rose. We hope it’s not serious. We have to give him one night to see the reaction of his ankle. He is in doubt for Sunday but he should be okay.”

~ André

Nothing ruptured, nothing strained, as my old mum used to say.

It was a game that somewhat followed the template of all guns blazing in the beginning, then fizzling out, with a final bout of getting it over with.

The Catch 22 with this particular performance was that we gave licence to a number of players who are knocking on the first team door, and would you Adam and Eve it, they took it. The result might have been confused in a poor light, by a less sympathetic soul than I, as ‘a bit selfish.’

I’ll be honest, I’ve lost all patience with Defoe. He did very well against a pretty decent League One grade side, but I numbed by the thought that this might somehow be a gateway to a Tottingham revival for him.

Rose seemed to make a dynamic run every time he got the ball, but achieved zip. Sandro looked super, which given Moussa left the field horizontally, is good timing. Lamela is obviously a classy boy. He got little or no change out of any of his teammates, but that’s not his fault. Is it?

Holtby’s best performance so far. His boyish enthusiasm and desire are an undisguised blessing. Siggy was ‘alright.’ Jan is a Champions League grade player. As is Christian Eriksen. Wot a goal.
