THFC have sent out their Y- word consultation exercise survey. But they’ve only sent it out to “Members”, so if you aren’t one, despite being a supporter, you don’t get a say.
So why have they done this? Giving deference to Members can only be justified if they are seeking to control the sample pool. That presupposes that the survey would be immediately hijacked by rabid hoards seeking to skew the results. Which is ambitious, to put it mildly.
Our friend Peter Herbert made a point yesterday that I do agree with. He referenced the impact of events upon the wider community. Spurs has a significant global support. Those who actually attend matches are a minority. The impact of the Y word used at games effects all our support, in the wider Spurs community.
Fans in Hong Kong chanted “Yid Army” in our preseason tournament. Are THFC telling us that the Y word debate doesn’t apply to Johnny Foreigner? That the impact (be it positive or negative) of that word is somehow irrelevant to these fans as they don’t come through the turnstiles?
My guess is that they are throwing the Members a bone. It costs them nothing to email some already sat on their list and there will be a fair few Members who, upon realising this is a survey exclusive to them, will feel all warm and snuggly and valued.
Questions 1 to 6 are multiple choice.
Questions 7 to 11 aren’t questions. They are series of media quotes THFC have selected for you to ponder.
Given the style of the Poll Daddy template, there is a field for your response beneath each media quote. PLEASE DO NOT USE IT. Nobody aside from me will be able to view it and I’m not reading them.
