Tottenham had two players in the England squad for the 2022 World Cup under Gareth Southgate.
It’s the ultimate bragging right among rival fans to see how many players from their domestic club make it into the England World Cup squad.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea players usually dominate the squad list.
However, Tottenham have had a long tradition of also having players travel to the major tournaments with England over the past few decades.
Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli have all represented Tottenham in England World Cup squads recently.
However, according to the latest England World Cup squad odds, it looks unlikely that any Tottenham player will make it into Thomas Tuchel’s plans this summer.
Below, we break down each English Tottenham player who features on the odds list and their real chances of making it into the final 26-man squad.
1) James Maddison
James Maddison was an unused substitute for England in the 2022 World Cup and he had earmarked 2026 as his chance to finally make his big tournament debut.
However, his World Cup dream was dashed during pre-season when he suffered an ACL injury.
It was clear that the injury would rule Maddison out of being a part of Tuchel’s plans for the summer.
Despite his extremely unlikely chance to be fit in time for the World Cup, Maddison is still favoured over the likes of Jadon Sancho or Ross Barkley to make the squad.
But it would take a miracle at this point for Maddison to even be considered for this summer’s tournament.
2) Dominic Solanke
There’s a real chance that Dominic Solanke makes the final 26-man squad, but he faces an uphill battle.
A starting spot is out of the question with England captain Harry Kane fit and firing, but there is space for a back-up striker to convince Tuchel he is worthy of making the plane.
He’s set to battle with Jarrod Bowen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins to be in the England squad this summer.
But UK betting sites currently have Solanke as an outsider to make the squad with Bowen preferred as the back-up central attacker, along with versatile options in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon.
There’s still time for Solanke to find some end-of-season form to convince Tuchel he’s deserving of a spot, but time is running out.
3) Djed Spence
According to the UK betting sites, Djed Spence is the most likely Tottenham player to make the England World Cup squad.
His versatility is a huge plus for England, with Tuchel still not 100% set on his full-back options.
Spence has already started both left-back and right-back for England under Tuchel, further enhancing his chances of being on the plane.
However, he’s still behind the likes of Nico O’Reilly, Lewis Hall, Valentino Livramento, Reece James and Dan Burn in the odds on full-backs making the England squad.
It’s incredibly tight between them though and Spence is currently odds on to make the final 26-man squad.
4) Conor Gallagher
Conor Gallagher was a favourite squad pick under Gareth Southgate and played his role in England’s run to the final of Euro 2024.
But he’s been limited in game time under Tuchel, with just a solitary appearance coming last summer in the 3-1 defeat to Senegal.
The 26-year-old was left out once again for the March internationals, suggesting Tuchel has no plans to consider Gallagher this summer.
And the odds reflect that with Morgan Gibbs-White, James Garner and Adam Wharton more likely to squeeze into England’s midfield unit.
5) Archie Gray
At just 20 years of age, Archie Gray looks set to be a star of the future for England for years to come.
He played his part as England retained the Under-21 Euro title in 2025 and he’s enjoyed a breakthrough season for Tottenham too as he’s established himself as a regular starter
But the 2026 World Cup looks like it may come too soon for Gray to make his major tournament debut.
He’s yet to be called up to the senior England squad under Tuchel and, like Gallagher, looks unlikely to break into the midfield unit this summer.
