Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison from Everton last summer in a big money deal.
However, the Brazilian international has not been able to live up to the expectations since his move to the London club.
He has scored just three goals since his move to north London and the Brazilian has been criticised heavily. His performances for the national team have been largely underwhelming as well.
The striker has now revealed to Globo Esporte that he was going through a turbulent time over the last five months off the pitch and he has now managed to get over the situation.
Richarlison believes that he is only going to get better in the coming months now that he has sorted out his personal life.
The striker is set to return to England to seek psychological help in order to get his focus back again.
The Brazilian has also revealed that he will hold talks with Tottenham regarding his poor form and look to get back in his rhythm once again.
“On the field I’m a happy team player, I try to help as much as possible,” said Richarlison. “Sometimes, things don’t go the way we want. I think this part is a bit of the off-field side that ended up getting in my way. Even though you want to do things right, it ends up going wrong. I will continue to focus on the club, the storm has passed.”
“I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home. People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me. Now things will start to flow, I’m sure I’ll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again.”
“That sad moment wasn’t even because I played poorly, in my opinion I didn’t play a bad game in Belém, it was more of an outburst about the things that were happening off the field, which got out of control not on my part, but on the part of people who were close to me.”
“I’m going to go back to England, seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind. That’s it, come back stronger. I believe I will be in the next squad, I will work for that. It’s about getting a good streak at Tottenham, this week I’m going to sit down and talk to them, I need a good streak, get the rhythm of the game and get here well,” he added.
There is no doubt that the 26-year-old can be a top-class player for Tottenham if he manages to regain his form in confidence. He has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past.
He will be expected to replace Harry Kane who joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer and the player will have to add more goals to his game. He will need to score goals consistently in order to fill the void left by the England international and it remains to be seen whether he can step up and deliver.
