Tottenham utility man reaches verbal agreement to leave the club in January

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join the Croatian club Hadjuk Split.

A report from Football Insider claims that the 34-year-old has been given the green light to return to his homeland and it remains to be seen whether the move is finalised in the coming months.

The 34-year-old Croatian is currently sidelined with an ACL injury, and he is unlikely to play for Tottenham again. The player’s contract with Tottenham expires next summer and it makes sense for the two parties to go separate ways given his long-term injury.

The Croatian joined Tottenham as a free agent under former manager Antonio Conte and he was a very useful player for the North London club last season. The 34-year-old showed his quality and versatility operating as a winger as well as a fullback.

The Croatian international chipped in with 12 assists across all competitions and his ability to operate in multiple roles at a high level made him a very important squad player for Conte. There is no doubt that Perisic could still be an important player for clubs like Hadjuk Split despite being 34.

Tottenham are willing to grant him a move in January and it remains to be seen whether they decide to bring in a quality replacement midway through the season. The opportunity to return to his boyhood club will be an exciting option for the player as well, and he will look to enjoy his twilight years with regular football in his homeland.
