Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly one of the clubs keen on signing the Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.
The 21-year-old Romanian central defender has impressed with his performances in the Italian league and a report from Tuttomercatoweb claims that Newcastle United have been scouting him in recent weeks.
Apparently, Tottenham are ‘thinking about’ the player as well and he is likely to cost around €30 million.
Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements during the January transfer window and it will be interesting to see if they decide to sign the 21-year-old. Micky van de Ven is sidelined with an injury and Eric Dier has been linked with an exit from the club. Spurs need a central defender in January.
Dragusin could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the north London club. He is highly rated in the Italian league and he has the potential to develop into a key player for Tottenham in the coming years.
Tottenham have previously signed Cristian Romero from Italian football and the Argentine international has proven to be a massive success. They will hope that Dragusin can follow in Romero’s footsteps if he moves to the Premier League.
The defender is still quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He has the potential to justify the €30 million investment in the long run as well.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat Newcastle to his signature. The Magpies probably have more financial resources and they can offer him Champions League football as well.
However, Tottenham are a big club with a talented squad. They have been quite impressive this season and they could easily return to the Champions League at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old is tempted to join them ahead of Newcastle if both clubs submit a proposal for him.
