Tottenham left-back, Destiny Udogie, enjoyed a remarkable debut Premier League campaign.

Spurs signed the Italian defender in the summer of 2022 from Udinese for a transfer fee of €18 million, subsequently loaning him back to the Serie A side for the season.

Udogie made his debut for the Lilywhites in the first league game of the season last August, upon his return.

He very quickly established himself as one of the first names in the starting XI, seamlessly fitting into the Ange Postecoglou’s side as if he were a seasoned player.

With his consistently solid performances, Udogie has established himself among the best left-backs in the league.

And his performances have been recognised. The Italy international has been nominated for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season award, alongside some of the brightest talents in the English top flight.

Udogie finds himself among the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Alexander Isak, Kobbie Mainoo, and William Saliba for the award.

His inclusion is a testament to the performances he has displayed this season.

Udogie has featured in 28 Premier League games this season, starting in each of them. He has contributed with a couple of goals and provided three assists. (Transfermarkt)

However, the defender’s season has been prematurely ended after undergoing surgery on his thigh.

The player sustained the injury during a training session last month and is expected to rejoin the squad during pre-season ahead of the new campaign.

Ange Postecoglou would hope to see Udogie pick up from where he left off once he recovers.
