Tottenham learn the asking price of 22-year-old ace with ‘proven Premier League quality’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in recent months.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the 22-year-old Premier League defender is unlikely to come cheap and he could cost between £55-65 million.

“From Postecoglou’s point of view, he’ll have input and he’s asking for proven Premier League quality, so you suddenly have a scenario where someone like Guehi could move up the list and Max Kilman has been a long-term Spurs target, so it will be interesting to see if they still fancy him now,” Jacobs said to Last Word on Spurs.

“Guehi could be an interesting one, it will be intriguing to see what the fee is. They will be quite stubborn on this, £55m, £60m, £65m, something like that.”

Apparently, Tottenham are looking at the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman as well.

Spurs need to improve their defensive department this summer and someone like Guehi would be a quality acquisition.

The 22-year-old has proven his quality in the Premier League with Crystal Palace and a move to Tottenham would be the ideal step up in his career.

The defender might feel that a move to the North London club could help him establish himself as a regular starter for England in the coming months as well.

With the European Championships coming up next year, Guehi will look to cement his place in Gareth Southgate’s England starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will have to find a reliable partner for Cristian Romero as well and the 22-year-old certainly fits the profile. He would be an upgrade on players like Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.

Tottenham have missed out on Champions League qualification and they must improve their squad in order to get back into the top four and compete for major trophies. Players like Guehi will certainly live at the quality of the squad and help them bounce back strongly next season.

Meanwhile, Spurs have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their manager and the Australian is an expert when it comes to getting the best out of his players. He could help Guehi fulfil his potential at the North London club.
