Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Lucas Bergvall from Djurgardens during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old will join up with his new club in the summer and he is currently on loan at Djurgardens.
Bergvall is regarded as one of the finest prospects in European football and Swedish midfielder Albin Ekdal believes that the new Spurs recruit could develop into an incredible player.
“He has what it takes to become an incredibly good player. Then it’s up to him how he manages it. He will come to a level and an environment that is very demanding, but I think he has what it takes to become a real top player,” Ekdal told Aftonbladet (h/t SportWitness).
The midfielder has the attributes to develop into a key player for the Premier League and it will be interesting to see whether Ange Postecoglou can get the best out of him. The Australian manager did well to groom young players at Celtic and Bergvall could develop further under his tutelage.
The move to the Premier League will be a major step up for the youngster, especially coming from Djurgardens. However, he has the technical ability to thrive at that level. The midfielder might need to work on his physicality to deal with the intensity of English football.
Spurs are currently missing a quality central midfielder who can stitch play together and create attacking sequences from the deep. Bergvall could be that player for them in the coming seasons. He could be the ideal number eight in their system.
Tottenham fans will be excited to watch their new recuruit in action next season. Spurs have done well to bring in exciting young players like Pape Matar Sarr, Alejo Veliz, Ashley Phillips, Radu Dragusin, Luka Vuskovic, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Bergvall in recent windows. It is evident that they are looking to put together a formidable squad for the future.
