‘That was stupid’ – Harry Redknapp attacks £165k-a-week Tottenham player

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp discussed Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in his latest column and slammed Cristian Romero for his role in it.

His red card was the game changing moment for Spurs. He went in rash on Enzo catching him on the follow through and was shown marching orders.

Chelsea scored the subsequent penalty to equalise and then went on to score three more despite Vicario’s heroics keeping Spurs in the game for a long time.

Writing in his column for The Sun, he wrote:

“Spurs were to blame for some of it, some of the tackling was reckless. Cristian Romero could easily have ended Enzo Fernandez’s career for one thing with a dreadful challenge.”

“That was stupid. But Chelsea’s tactics also left a lot to be desired with Tottenham there to be beaten 10-0.”

Tottenham went on to lose their second consecutive game to Wolves on Saturday.

Romero was banned and Micky van de Ven was injured as Ange fielded a make-shift defense with Dier and Ben Davies starting instead.

And despite taking the lead against Wolves, they ended up conceding two late goals and Dier was blamed for both of them.

Ange will have work through the absence of Romero for another two weeks while Van de Ven is expected to be out for a long time.

Their next game is against Aston Villa which is going to be another tough test for Ange.
