Spurs Will Relish Facing Man City In The Carabao Cup Final

By The Boy -

Last night Manchester City progressed to to the final of the old League Cup, securing their place against the already qualified Spurs, who had beaten Brentford by the same 2-0 scoreline some 48hrs beforehand. Pep Guardiola made a classy gesture after the game, telling the BBC that City were dedicating the win to club legend Colin Bell who sadly passed away on Tuesday. Pep said, “Colin was a big loss. It is sad news, but we can continue and be incredibly proud of what these guys years ago created.”

Bettors will be keen to find themselves on the right side of the final and the best way to give yourself an advantage is to take advantage of a Betfred promo code to enhance your chances. Cup finals always bring out the most reticent gambler and a Spurs City final will guarantee the game being a huge sporting event.

On balance, I believe that Spurs fans will welcome the draw, for a number of reasons. Personally I think that City are the superior of the two Manchester sides, and so there will be an element of having won the trophy by beating the best side, however, there’s a less noble reason for wanting to avoid United. They cheat – in particular Bruno Fernandes is a desperately dishonest player as we discussed on this The Boy Hotspur Blog. I’d rather take my chances against a player that focused their efforts on skill, opposed to being reliant upon the sort of dark arts that can rustle up a penalty out of nowhere – especially in a cup final.

Additionally, it’s worth bearing in mind that Manchester United have nothing else on their plate, beyond the Premier League, and so City will also have a similar drain on their resources via domestic and foreign obligations as Tottenham. I’d rather play a side in a final that like us were fighting on several fronts, opposed to psychologically saving up for one particular game. For most forward thinking Tottenham fans, there is one factor in our favour that City cannot even attempt to replicate. José Mourinho was brought in to win trophies and the at the first time of asking, the Portuguese Pulis secures us a spot in a cup final. The feel good factor here is not to be undervalued. For those of us who feel no shame in the entitled vulgarity of wanting to win, this could well be a memorable game!

Well put Sir. This cup in order of businees on the calender, check. We can now concentrate on attacking the league knowing that: 1. The front runners and those around us dropped points last week while we gain to keep pace with chasing pack. 2. We now have a game in hand like City while ahead on some in the pack behind us.
