I always listen to what Tappa has to say. A proper football man who loves the Spurs. Where is he?.. We’re only 5 points off top 4 now and we’ve been shocking. You’re right in the current state we are nowhere near top four, but you’re underestimating the Italian mate. Look how quickly he sorted out Inter.

Dušan Vlahović, Franck Kessie of Milan and may be Brozovic of inter are free from January I’m sure them 3 cheers.

I’d check the players out of contract next summer. Paratici will be trying to sign those this January and supplement with maybe a big purchase.
But that would give us some names in early doors next summer and stretch any transfer budget.
The up coming windows, Paratici is accountable for, so he could give Conte a gentleman’s agreement for what he’ll do.

Hugo is the only one of them who’s won anything. Take the armband off the World Cup winner, and hand it over to a guy who never shows up in the biggest games he’s played in, for club or country…seems like a great!!!

Wouldn’t have been enough, levy was negotiating last time as Paratici wasn’t on board.

Conte is only a good fit in the sense that he will continue to expose the malevolent dwarf as unwilling to back the manager or churn and refresh the squad. We already know this, of course, but Conte will be fairly vocal about it before exiting in a drama filled blow-up. If we can’t get entertainment on the pitch (and with this group of wasters, it’s only entertaining in the laugh or you’ll cry way, especially with Dier cosplaying as a CB), at least give us some drama off the pitch. Maybe Conte chinning the little fella pitchside after being forced to play Winks and Dele.

Conte is the next Spurs manager in that case the game between Man United and Spurs we lost the battle but we won the war. we get Conte therefore United lost. no world class manager available after Conte in the market so it seems Ole will be on the wheel for foreseeable future. I’m a very happy man for that we will finish top 6 guaranteed if not top 4 with Conte the ruthless in charge. he gets €100 million investment in January and he will be backed in next summer as well he been guaranteed for that he identified already 6 players he wants to bring to Tottenham including Stefan de vrij, Brozovic, Mathias De ligt, Federico Chiesa and another 2 players I can’t remember now I hope it will work for Spurs to act as big club finally and compete in the biggest stages of football Conte wages will be £15.5 mill a year good times ahead of my team after nightmares cheers.

Annoying thing is if we’d gone for Conte in the summer then we could have added that £14m to his transfer budget and saved a lot of hurt too. Why do we always do things the hard way?

Because they’ll be sold or exiled…made to train with the reserves.. that will hurt a lot for a generation whose greatest disappointment would likely have been an android as opposed to an iphone..

Not all will be shifted quickly but Conte may get a bounce or an insight that will improve some ( he improved Lukaku) of the dead wood and then ostracise anyone else. Ala like rose or Adybayor.
The options are cash or time.
But when you payoff someone 14m for 17 games maybe we’ve money to splash around

We’re not a top 4 club or have you been listening to Tappa? If any of the big 4 miss out this year, they’ll be returning next

There will be difference in cash flow projections, back in may there was a lot more doubt about stadiums being full and other lockdowns, which now, look the worst thing will be passports to attend matches and other events.
That means a compromise could be on the table.

Some need shifting quicker than others .. I would prioritize shifting lo celso, winks & alli…. these folk are still young ish & so you may get say 30-40 mill for all 3…

It does not behoove Conte to sign anything until after the weekend. It makes Spurs even more desperate as the weekend approaches, and it gives incentive to United to pull the plug when (not if) they lose to City.

If the scenario transpires like that, Levy should be absolutely torn up for offering a ridiculous 18 months. What a stooge.

It’s all bolox but it’ll suit Levy to scab him on a temporary contract now with no window he doesn’t have to back him until next summer and by then it’ll have gone tits north anyhow.

More desperate face saving and PR twaddle

To save money I should imagine. With a personality like Levy he has to actually peer into the abyss before acting. His gut reaction is that of a bean counter – always to save pennies.

There’s an argument to say that Conte might be using Spurs to jog Utd into making the decision to appoint him and sack OGS. If City thrash Utd that wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility. We need to get Conte signed up before then for me to relax.

Glory Costs Too Much

If this is for real and not all white noise then Levy must have given up quite a lot from the summer. Presumably a decent transfer budget for the next 2 windows at least and allowing Conte’s backup staff and as many as he wants. I just hope and pray that the scheming Levy really means this and it won’t all go belly up again as our top targets in the transfer windows mysteriously slip through our fingers at the last minute to be replaced with the usual bang average junk instead. I’ll believe it when it happens. They say a leopard never changes it’s spots so I’m not about to trust Levy without seeing the evidence first.
There’s also the problem of shifting our deadwood too, and the list seems to grow every season. Our squad can only be so big, there are a limited number of places. Is Levy really going to price the likes of Dele, Winks, Davies, Dier etc. at an amount that will make them an attractive prospect to other clubs? Or will his usual greed take over and price them so nobody in their right mind can afford them?
If Conte walks through our door there is still an awful lots of stars that have to align before a revolution happens, so lets not get too carried away just yet.
It’s a massive step in the right direction though. But only if Levy ceded complete control to the man. Can he do that?

United face City at the weekend.

With that fixture in the picture, it is not difficult to work out why it benefits Conte to be talking to Spurs at all.

At least we’ll have a passionate person on the side lines during matches, barking orders to any slackers on the pitch.

Nuno demeanor wasn’t the best, and it transpired to the players performance.

Why didn’t Levy appoint him first time around?

Conte has a missed a transfer window already and January windows aren’t usually up to much.

One good thing. Every manager is now under direct threat from the fans anger. A bad run of games and you can get your coat.

Welcome to the new age of Spurs. The fans speak and Levy and his flunkies capitulate.

The Spurs v Man United game will go down in history for good or ill, when a panicked chairman folded like a cheap deck chair with his team two points off fifth place.

No Conte is all about loyalty.. He wouldn’t just take the cap off Hugo no chance. He is the man to convince Kane to stay though. Getting top four and signing his own players would help.

Mina – we are Tottenham Hotspur. There are not two Tottenhams so we are not Tottenham Hotspurs.

Secondly – keep watching Conte (if it happens, still nowhere near convinced). This club will be the first in the world to reverse a hair transplant

I will believe it when I see it. If I see it I will only believe in it if serious money is spent in January and the length of the contract suggests it’s serious.

I’m more bemused by the notion of Conte’s appointment than I was about Maureen’s, and that’s saying something.

Assuming it gets through the filter in reasonable time, here’s a spot on article (posted in my reply box) by the often excellent Jonathan Wilson which not only reads like a compilation of the most pertinent bits from this blog during recent years, but contains the best one line summary of Levy & ENIC wrongheadedness I’ve yet read:

“Spurs have one of the greatest stadiums in the world; all it cost them was the team”.

Shame it doesn’t work as a chant.

I’m wondering whether he might make Kane captain in a ploy to make him feel more welcome? After all he’s already captain for his country so why not his club? Would send a huge message to Kane.
Apparently Conte has been quoted as saying he is a huge fan of both Kane and N’Dombele. So perhaps his first job is to change the mind of the two players that want out.

Henceforth the squad will be known as Goldilocks FC.

He is a current serial winner – it leaves nowhere for the players to hide, if they don’t win something under Conte it is on them. Some of them stooped playing for Poch, some stopped playing for Jose, some never even started playing for Nuno.
Whatever happens I trust Conte to get more out of our squad than Nuno did.
