A day which started with the hope of seeing both Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso on the team-sheet, ended in the disappointment of a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where George Baldock’s 78th-minute equaliser cancelled out Son Heung-min’s strike.
On the balance of play, the newly-promoted Blades probably warranted all three points and may have had them had it not been for the tightest of VAR calls which chalked off David McGoldrick’s tap-in.

This had the feeling of a must-win game. We entered it 10 points off the top-four pace, and that gap could yet be 12 if Leicester City and Manchester City are both victors this weekend.
The result saw a few more of Mauricio Pochettino’s former admirers jump ship and even the Poch loyalists acknowledge this season is basically a write off as far as the Premier League is concerned.
