Romano claims ‘important’ Tottenham player ‘wants to leave’ the club in January

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The Denmark international was expected to leave the club during the summer transfer window but he ended up staying.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the 28-year-old midfielder wants to leave the North London club and he has changed his agent in order to secure a move away.

Apparently, the midfielder is already thinking about a move in January.

He was linked with clubs like Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to let him leave midway through the season.

The 28-year-old midfielder is no longer an indispensable asset for Tottenham and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Spurs decided to cash in on him if there is a lucrative proposal on the table.

Romano believes that the midfielder is not happy at Tottenham and the club are already preparing for a future without him.

“There is always movement and now they are restarting. You have to be connected and in touch with clubs. Players who aren’t happy with their clubs are already thinking of the January transfer window. For example, an important player at Tottenham – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg he changed his agent and now he’s looking for a move in January or in the summer transfer window, but he wants to leave Tottenham, so they’re already preparing for the future,” Romano said on the Here We Go Podcast.

The Denmark international has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club but he might not be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s free-flowing attacking approach. Hojbjerg is more suited to teams with a conservative approach and therefore he excelled under the previous manager Antonio Conte.

It remains to be seen whether he can secure a move to a big club when the winter transfer window opens.
