“Fans are taking to him now” – Pundit says Tottenham attacker is starting to win fans over

By Mehdi Gokal -

Danny Murphy believes Tottenham attacker is finally winning over the supporters.

Brennan Johnson signed for Tottenham on deadline day in the summer transfer window.

Spurs secured his services from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £47.5 million and while it has taken him some time to get going at his new club, he has been on terrific form over the last couple of weeks.

He has popped up with some crucial goals and assists for Spurs. He came off the bench against Luton to assist both the goals, helping them win 2-1. Not only that, but a few days later he followed that with a goal to give Spurs the lead over West Ham, a game they drew 1-1.

Over his past 10 league outings, he has netted four goals and provided three assists, bringing his season total to five goals and seven assists.

Murphy praises Brennan Johnson

Ex-English midfielder turned pundit Danny Murphy shared his insights regarding the young winger’s development.

Murphy highlighted that the Wales international seems to have adapted well to his environment, resulting in a boost in confidence and performance standards.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, the pundit emphasised Johnson’s increasing comfort with consistent inclusion in the team, the backing of the fans, and his noteworthy contributions in terms of both goals and overall gameplay.

Murphy said (quotes via Spurs Web):

“Brennan Johnson is also looking really comfortable now. He is gaining confidence the more he is selected, the fans are taking to him now, he is getting some goals and his all round game is improving. He’s not just a runner, he’s not just quick, he’s got more about him.”

TBH Says:

Johnson has shown enough to prove that he is the perfect Ange Postecoglou player. He’s got pace, has versatility which allows him to play in multiple positions upfront, and loves to attack his opponents with his direct play.

He’s going to play a huge part in the final stretch of the season as Spurs aim to finish top 4 ahead of Aston Villa.
