‘…offer on the table’ 13-goal star has been linked with a €17M Levy bid

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for the Dutch international forward Memphis Depay earlier on in the window.

According to a report from Sport, the Londoners have now ‘officially taken the step’ to sign the 28-year-old this summer, and the player has an ‘offer from Tottenham on the table’.

Apparently, Barcelona are demanding a fee of around €20 million for the Dutch international who scored 13 goals across all competitions last season. However, Spurs are willing to spend up to €17m (£14.4m) for his services.

Depay has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona and he needs to leave the Spanish club in order to play regular first-team football. With the arrival of Raphinha and the extension of Ousmane Dembele, the 28-year-old is unlikely to play often next season.

The Dutchman had a difficult time in the Premier League during his time at Manchester United and he will be desperate to prove his quality in English football if a move to Tottenham materialises.

Spurs could definitely use more quality and depth in their attack and Depay could prove to be a wise addition.

The former Manchester United player can operate as a centre-forward as well as a left-sided winger. His versatility could be an asset for Antonio Conte’s side next season.

This story just doesn’t add up for me. So we’d effectively have Sonny, Kane, Kulusevski, Richarlison and Depay? If Depay wants first team football I can’t see him getting the minutes he’s searching for with us. Plus, we could do with a playmaker or a number ‘10’ option, not a FITH forward! Sixth, if you add Moura.

Depay’s wages will be high too, outside chance of a loan perhaps? Still can’t see it…

‘Had a difficult time in Premier League’ …Not sure I’d bother put the money towards an AM.
