A pleasing read in this morning’s Sun, with a lengthy interview with Arsenal Invincible Martin Keown – what the heck is this doing on a Spurs page I hear both of you scream?! Well, the truth is that it gives me enormous pleasure to know just how rattled The Gunners are right now. After an interminable campaign of ill-mannered thuggery and mindless bile from the Arsenal TV mob, Arsenal finally ejected old Wenger and of course, managed not to employ anyone fit to fill his shoes. Please don’t mistake any of this for sentiment or affection. I just found the treatment of the Frenchman lacked basic civility, given what he had achieved during his reign. First, they hired the ‘Good ebening’ chap, and now we have a former player who looks to have one hell of a learning curve ahead of him.
Keown suggests that patience is beginning to wear thin at The Emirates and suddenly, this weekend’s North London Derby could be the most important yet. 10th placed Arsenal are in the midst of a colossal rebuild and the timing could not be worse. If Martin Keown is worried, then that’s music to my ears. Arteta is on borrowed time if the result of one game is so important. That’s West Ham type behaviour, and nobody wants to imitate that…
