Matt Doherty’s termination didn’t sit well with me last night. I’ve no particular warmth for the man, but I firmly believe one gets the best out of men if one treats them as actual men.
Quite how shambolically run THFC is, never ceases to amaze me. The idea a business of that size can ‘suddenly’ realise that FIFA regs have been breached by the loaning out of too many players, straightforwardly points to the directors of the club being too bloody-minded to have decent staff around them.
We all know what ‘by mutual consent means’ at Spurs, and when that is wrapped up snugly in NDAs, which we know much is with this firm, the strains of Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence come wafting down the hall.
On an upbeat note, it appears that the Irishman did at least have some affection for Atletico, back in 2016. Hopefully, this is still the case, and he can try and make a name for himself, as of course, Kieran Trippier did.
