Martin Keown claims £175k-a-week player is not happy at Spurs

By Mehdi Gokal -

Martin Keown believes Tottenham player Richarlison does not look happy on the pitch.

The former Arsenal star and talkSPORT pundit believes that Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil international forward Richarlison is not fulfilling his potential.

Keown said (12:40pm, September 15, 2023):

“I never see that he is happy on the pitch.

“I think he is that type of player. I look at him and feel that he is not really fulfilling his potential.”

Richarlison has really struggled since his big money move to Tottenham last summer. In his first season at the club, he failed to replicate his form from Everton scoring only 1 league goal all season and 3 across all competitions.

Despite expectations that his performances would improve under a new manager, who favored an attacking style of play, Richarlison has yet to rediscover his top form.

He openly acknowledged his mental struggles and admitted that he will seek psychological assistance to address his issues.

Tottenham’s current manager, Ange Postecoglou, has expressed his full support for Richarlison following his brave admission, emphasising the club’s commitment to providing assistance when needed.

The Brazilian forward’s emotional reaction on the bench during Brazil’s match against Bolivia further highlighted his challenging situation.

Postecoglou said:

“They all get whatever help and assistance they require.

“It doesn’t always happen in the public eye because most of it’s done in-house. Sometimes they seek help and sometimes we offer the help. Whatever Richy needs, we’ll help him get to the space he wants to.

“He was quite emotional after a game and that’s fine. We’ll give him the support he needs.”

TBH Says:

Despite his struggles, the 26-year-old forward possesses undeniable talent and potential, and we are hopeful that he will soon rediscover his scoring touch.
