Levy Jumping The Gun With Fan Proposal?

Football is struggling to navigate its way back to normality in a what is looking and feeling like an interminable post COVID-19 path. Judging by the high streets, the UK economy is sleepwalking into an economic meltdown. Stores local to me must be struggling to even meet operational costs, a car park at the local railway station has ceased trading entirely. Plus, I am told by pal of mine that he counted 24 empty retail units walking up New Bond Street earlier this week. Costa coffee are the latest chain to start letting people go…

Despite this wholesale reticence on the part of the public, Daniel Levy is hoping to get the crowds back into the Tottenham Stadium. Speaking at a Premier League shareholders meeting, The Guardian‘s David Hytner understands that the Spurs supremo has asked for 30,000 fans to be able to the Spurs ground – in a test event.

He [Levy] has previously said that he wants to explore scientific and technological solutions to pave the way for supporters to return; possibly digital health passports and smartphone applications.

One serious problem with all this, is that fans are still going to face the obstacle of getting to the stadium – and public transport remains decimated – down to a lack of confidence.

Another issue, is that since March, when the country effectively shut down, a lot of people have fundamentally changed their habits, as well as their working practices. Getting bricks and mortar trade going again is going to be a slow process with very few survivors.

Not sure I agree about bailing out the High Street. I owned a business and we were massively undercut by High Street retailers entering the market and looking to give our margins away. We were told by Government to “suck it up” and it was free market competition. We adapted. They haven’t. What goes around comes around.

Any constructive ideas on how to get them to change? Send them an email. Don’t try to real me in regarding any protests/demonstration’s or stuff like that. I’ve tried it (sugar) IT DONT Work. Plus I’m too old for any of that now. Roll with it is all you can do. Oh and by the way. What are the spending figures at the new place? (With our own money which it always has been) them man aint spending their own money on Tottenham. Never have never will. The end. Move on

Is that acceptable to you? Would you prefer owners who put more into the team?

Do you honestly think that Spurs’ actually spending ability is only 17th highest in the whole league?

If not, what the f**ck are they playing at, apart from giving out a few free tickets?

So what, you’re saying that Joe and Daniel actually put money in now are you? Get with the reality, the reality of what they do. Not the PR spin coming out of their paid off puppets down at the council.
I’ll say it again, wakey wakey…

You’re right, Covid is just another blow to the high street, while Amazon are trading at levels higher than ever before. There should be a tax on all online sales to help pay for town centre and high street regeneration.

There should be an incentive for someone who has to pay rent, business rates and other operating costs in the face of the online juggernaut.

It cannot carry on like this, something major will give. As for the handling of Covid and coming out of it, it’s a complete shambles. The NHS messed up really bad too, ‘thank you NHS’? Why not blow smoke up something’s backside when it’s got major faults?

Do people in Germany, France, Spain or wherever keep saying ‘thank you’ to their health service for just doing what it’s there to do? It’s underfunded and failing too much, people deserve better…

I am not sure how much more of the All or Nothing( that means nothing then) Levy PR campaign I can stomach. This attempt to position him as a philanthropist looking to do good for the people of Tottenham and to “make a difference “ is nauseating fodder to watch. The best part is watching Mourinho operate. He is clearly a winner and he may just have a personality strong enough to manipulate the little emperor. We may just get another season out of Kane because he is now the gaffer.

The ticket sales don’t affect Tottenham (apart from food and drink takings) Tottenham just rent them the stadium. Leave it as you found it” we tell’m

Complicated, Chinese Government seems to have pressured the TV to take the Premier League off their main channel onto some obscure channel, some think its politics, retaliation for Hong-Kong and Huawei. Same thing happened to the NBA. It was the PLs single biggest overseas contract so it is a big blow.

I am so against this NLF business , I won’t accept anything to do with it. As for the High streets failing, governments have allowed the destruction of our towns and city centres for years by out of town shopping centres, and exorbitant costs by councils. Now they are all about fast food and charity shops, and all the empty shops gives such an awful impression.

In another blow The Premier League have withdrawn the TV rights from the Chinese company that had them for non payment of money owed. I think the deal was worth about £530 million over three years

There is no guarantee that the London NFL matches go ahead in the current climate. Will US supporters be allowed to travel to the UK to attend the game. So many unknowns at the moment. Levy will just have to make do with The Dare skywalk for the moment.

It does sound quite severe and can anyone say that there is an end in sight yet? I’m counting my blessings that I am here in Fortress WA, where life is almost near to being nearly normal. But no fortress is impregnable and some idiots from over East think that it is a challenge to try and sneak in unlawfully or not adhere to self-quarantine rules. Perhaps they think they’ll get legendary status if they succeed, kicking off community transmission and ruin other people’s lives; work, family, homes and marriages affected and the inevitable deaths. Western society is eating itself through its own short-sighted selfishness and stupidity. I have quite a few rellies in the UK, some of them old. All are safe and well at the moment thankfully.

However, I think Levy is deluded if he believes he can safely fill the stadium to 50% capacity. Here in WA our stadium is theoretically at 50% (30,000) and that is with ZERO community transmission. Even so, the maximum crowd has only been around 26,000. The idea of showing a note from your mum saying you haven’t got Covid is ridiculous. There are no real guarantees that everyone will be safe. Even if wearing a face mask was compulsory I imagine fans will remove them to chant. Sorry Daniel, Covid has got a nice tight grip on your financial windpipe and it won’t be letting go in a hurry.

– NFL season starts in September (had to google, hate the sport).
– Spurs have committed to hosting 2/3 games per year from memory

– What are the chances Levy can turn an NFL game into a 50% capacity “test event”? Those NFL tickets are big money
