Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has been linked with a move away from the London club.
The 23-year-old defender has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Tottenham and a move would be ideal for his development.
Journalist Dean Jones has now claimed that the young defender could look to move on in search of regular playing time.
When asked if Tanganga is surplus to requirements at Tottenham, Jones said to GiveMeSport: “Tanganga we’ve talked about for a while, and I think that’s probably real.”
He has tipped Bryan Gil to turn it around at the Spurs.
“But with Gil, I think that it’s still a possibility for him to turn things around. I mean, when he’s come on recently, he seems to have made a positive impact.”
Tanganga was linked with a move during the summer transfer window, but the transfer did not materialise. He is yet to play in the Premier League this season and he has played just once in the Champions League as a substitute.
It is clear that he has fallen down the pecking order at the London club and Antonio Conte does not consider him a key member of his squad.
He needs to play more often at this stage of his career, and it will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to provide him with an exit route when the transfer window opens in January.
That said, Spurs are lacking in quality and depth in the centre-back department and Conte might insist on bringing in a replacement before letting the 23-year-old leave.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months now.
Tanganga was highly rated at Tottenham when he broke into the first-team setup under Jose Mourinho. He managed to endear himself to the Spurs faithful with his performance back then.
However, things have not gone according to plan for him since then, and he needs a move to get his career back on track.
Lets be honest here – even Lazarus couldn’t come back from this .
Amongst all the recent controversy re centre halves , wing backs and full backs , Japhet still doesn’t really merit serious consideration .
That in itself should spell “time to go ” in anybody’s book .

Gil won’t do well if he is constantly brought on in the 93rd.minute.
