Insights after Game Week 3

By The Boy -

As the season progresses, one would hope that Antonio Conte’s coaching staff with their vast resources would be looking to correct any naff stuff as well as to exploit and enhance any positives that emerge.

Here’s the current Premier League table, and we see that Spurs are comparatively speaking, flying…

Can’t go wrong with an Amarone. Except with breakfast.

Even the 4-1 Southampton win didn’t have a ‘thrashing’ running through it .
We are currently not quite as fluid as you’d want it to be , but honestly the new players have brought a little more stability , a touch more nous , a lot more steel .
The kindling is ignited , we’ll start seeing the flames pretty soon ………… C O YS !!!

I watched that game yesterday saying Conte must be scratching his head at why we let him go in the first place.

As much as I’m enjoying seeing our lads getting the points playing rather turgid footy, I’m even more enjoying seeing the other results this wonderful weekend. I’ve popped a bottle of Beauregard Premier Cru Santenay to celebrate this unusually interesting start to the season and the Prem’s early doors Circa 1970s stylee top 10. The only thing spoiling it is arse***’s copycatting but playing the way I’d like The Mighty Spuds to. So a repeat of ‘them’ under wenger then; irritating isn’t the word.

Now if we can just beat Forest away, and arse*** drop points, my world would be complete. For a short while.

We could have done a lot worse than resign Trippier. His free kicks put Kane to shame.

We’ve been screaming out for a creative MF. All three games would have potentially been won sooner had we had one. Conte also needs to brave and drop underperforming players quicker ( Son) would be a good start.

That’s presumably why we’ve recruited a set-piece specialist. Sonny, for all the great things that he is, has always been p*ss poor at taking corners. The number of corners where he fails to beat the first man is hair-pullingly frustrating. Eriksen before him wasn’t much better.

I’ve never understood why we dilly dally in the first half. No matter how many changes in coaching staff, no matter how many changes in playing personnel are made, we – by and large – only click up the gears when the final whistle looms over the horizon. This has been our MO for as long as I can remember. Is there a secret contract clause we’re not privy to?
The only exception to the rule seems to be when our opponents are City, when that particular clause seems to get torn up.
Why we don’t just tear it up for good is anyone’s guess.

Every football fan across the country cannot abide poor execution of corners and free kicks. I think it is fair that for a player on £50k per week in the EPL to receive criticism if they can’t put a ‘dead’ ball in to the box. Seeing the ball hitting the first defender is so infuriating. Son’s corners were terrible yesterday so you’d think he’d practice them! No doubt he does but not to any great length.

Luckily we have Perisic who can take corners with either foot.
